We disagree regarding a Common Usage of the word Sin.

Tolerance and understanding doesn't care if words are from a person who happens to be Religious is used*.

No different than using words from a Secular Ideologue**, or a quote of a US Founding Father and future US President, who was probably an Atheist.***

They all may be correct.

In the real world, most conversations flow freely without any "religious undertones" occurring with every sentence.

I don't know about Florida, or other areas in the bible belt, but conversations don't have "religious undertones" occurring with every sentence on the Left Coast, unless you happen to be in earshot of a Jehovah's witness or a Mormon, or on the grounds of a religious property.

I'll bet he'd change his mind if the science supported his political ideology.

Yes I realise all of that, however I suppose it is the old "Atlantic divide"

I was raised as a Catholic but soon realised I did not believe.

I cannot think of a time when I have ever heard the word used in normal conversation.

Perhaps it is used more in the USA

However I think the word is being used here to inflame and insult others.

Bernie Vine... In your opinion. Since I included myself and specifically referenced Trump in addition to all other humans.

We disagree regarding who are the real inflamer's and insulters are.

I believe it is the Intolerant Radical Right, the Illiberal and Intolerant Radical Left and the Intolerant Religious Fundamentalists. Who are the real Inflamer's and Insulters.

I just thank God or "the laws of nature and of nature's God" that you and those who support you, continue to expose their real beliefs.

Nobody here is exposing anything except yourself.

I too find that the phrase "All humans are with sin" to have religious overtones.

Nothing wrong with that, however I would say that in my lifetime I have met many people, none are perfect, may strive to be, but NONE are "with sin".

We are all imperfect beings yes, but it does not me we will all commit "sin"

SIN:

Definition;

An immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law.

This was the first of several but one that I am sure you did not mean to impart, but that is how it comes across

Bernie,

The word 'sin' has multiple meanings. Some are, of course, religious in nature. Others are not...

sin (sĭn)
n.
1. A transgression of a religious or moral law, especially when deliberate.
2. Theology
a. Deliberate disobedience to the known will of God.
b. A condition of estrangement from God resulting from such disobedience.
3. Something regarded as being shameful, deplorable, or utterly wrong.

https://www.thefreedictionary.com/sin

Trace the word back and you see it not being religious in nature. In latin, 'sons' means 'guilty'. In, interestingly enough, Hebrew it means 'missing the mark'... literally a term from archery... Hitting the target but missing the bulls-eye.

None of us are perfect. ALL are therefore 'with sin'. Sin is not some specific act... Sin is the state of 'not being perfect'.

I do not agree with everything Clyde says, but I do agree with some of it.

I think we ALL could use some more tolerance of others and their ideas.. Who knows... We might learn something.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

Hi Bernie Vine...

In a secular sense, all are with sin.

Most, unlike many in these discussions, understand Common Usage.

In my opinion. The Illiberal and Intolerant Radical Left as with the Radical Right. Must, despite continuous 'instruction from some. Be continuously exposed.

We may also disagree regarding this.

We also have a fundamental difference regarding tolerance.

Bernie, I suspect our sinner is a Catholic. They have a somewhat different view of sin than the Anglican Church. Seems their birth means they are with sin, or at least that is what I get from far far outside their orbit.
