Actually, it surprises me that CA, and maybe along with the rest of the west coast, haven't told Washington DC where to stick their policies and secede. My limited time in the US convinced me that CA is different from the rest of the US.

Because they, like any other State, could not survive with out Federal tax dollars. Armies, Navies, and infrastructures, etc. are very expensive.

Best look that one up Darrell.

Surprised you came up with that one. You strike me as independent, with a bit of right lean. Even I've figured out Business Insider is pretty liberal.

Thank you. Yes I am a Independent.

That article painted a different picture than statements made about dependencies.

This map shows the states the most and least dependent on the federal government
http://www.businessinsider.com/the-states-the-most-and-least-dependent-on-the-federal-government-2015-7

The line above the map states "the deeper the blue, the less dependent the state is on the Federal Government," which is directly opposite of what they list as the 5 most dependent and independent states below the map.

Then there is this map which shows the military bases in the US: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1XFBnIuaJ-71hcaDJvdmBmeXNhYM&hl=en&ll=47.323248104393464%2C-114.05083400000001&z=3

There's a lot of bases in California, which if it were to secede would withdraw a lot of income. The bases could be closed and moved east. Next, the shipping cargo that passes thru the state's ports would be routed to other ports, another major loss of income. Then without the protection of the 2nd Amendment, the liberals in the state would take away the resident's guns. Once this is done, China would invade and take it over since there would be no one to resist them. Plus the fact that California offers nothing that can't be bought or made elsewhere in the USA or the world, no great loss :)
... and still I fear, and still I dare not laugh at the Mad Man!

Looks like someone has been playing photoshop doesn't it?

<ed>Re bases: Have no clue who made that map but it is missing real bases and has lots of hysterical bases. As to missing Los Angeles Air Force Base is not listed and my be the most important base the USA has today.

The entire Country is different from each other.

Just ask the Sovereign States of Texas, Georgia, Nebraska, Utah, Maine, Florida, New York, et al.

True. But CA, IMHO, is markedly different from the rest of the US.
But, with the possible exception of Texas, could the others survive on their own?

Bing & Google show something different. *most important base in the USA has today*

I like this list from
https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-most-important-military-bases-in-the-United-States

The most "important" military installations in the United States are:

1. The Pentagon - The headquarters of the entire Department of Defense and the focal point for all military operations worldwide.
2. Naval Station Norfolk - The largest naval base in the world and the United States Fleet Forces Command which controls all of the US naval operations in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
3. Offutt AFB - The headquarters of the USAF's Strategic Command which controls the majority of the USAF's nuclear capabilities. It also a secondary command center if NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) in Colorado is
compromised or destroyed.
4. North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) The main strategic headquarters for the USAF and the entire DoD nuclear arsenal after the Pentagon. Located outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
5. MacDill AFB- The headquarters for the United States Central Command and the United States Special Operations Command two the busiest commands in the entire US military. Its current primary mission is supporting the operations in SW Asia and in Africa.
5. Naval Base San Diego - The third largest naval base in the US and the homeport of the Pacific Fleet
6. Naval Station Peal Harbor - United States Pacific Fleet headquarters and the forward operating position of the US navy in the Pacific
7. Fort Bragg - Home to the United States Army Forces Command, as well the US Army's special forces and the 82nd Airborne division. Technically a “joint base” along with neighboring Pope AFB.

They have no clue as to what important is. The other bases can't function without LAAFB. Mind you it sits in some office buildings, so why isn't it in the Pentagon? Because it is too important to be put into that big target. What does it do? It operates every spy satellite the USA has. So no pictures and you can't target the enemy, the rest of the bases become rather useless.

Los Angeles has been ground zero for a very long time, Pasadena itself has two targets, Caltech and JPL. Every areospace company, there are dozens, is a target. Seal Beach naval weapons depot is a target, doubly as they keep nukes there. Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach would be targets. Hollywood would be a target because of the massive communications capability of those hundreds of transmit sat dishes. On the other side of the mountains but still in the county, Edwards Air Force Base and Palmdale Air Force Plant 42 are targets. It is a very target rich environment.

Ping Pong has yet to show that a single one of his missiles actually came any closer to its intended target than a scud missile. His space shot didn't exactly get on the right orbit.

@GUY, 45 doing exactly what you sent him to do, drain the swamp!
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/09/07/trump-schumer-agree-to-pursue-plan-to-repeal-the-debt-ceiling/?utm_term=.005777968ed1
President Trump and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) have agreed to pursue a deal that would permanently remove the requirement that Congress repeatedly raise the debt ceiling, three people familiar with the decision said.

Trump and Schumer discussed the idea Wednesday during an Oval Office meeting. The two, along with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D–Calif.), agreed to work together over the next several months to try to finalize a plan, which would need to be approved by Congress.

One of the people familiar described it as a “gentlemen’s agreement.”

Hey, what about the Wall, don't forget the wall it is an absolute necessity to stop all the drugs, murders and rapists.

No, it isn't, they just come in on short term holiday visa's at the border crossings, or by boat and plane.
