Hi There,
I have a Rampage IV Extreme Black Edition with 32GB Ram and 3 x ASUS 1080s in SLI.

When I run it without running SETI@HOME, it will run forever with no issues. play what ever you want do what ever you want and it just hangs in there fine.

When I run with latest SETI@HOME, at say 50% CPUs and 50% usage, after a couple of hours it grinds to a halt and my screen stops refreshing, mouse gets stuck for periods of 10-20 seconds then eventually it all just stops.

Am currently doing some experiments to see if I can identify more behaviour.

Is anyone else seeing this sort of issue?
Is anyone else running triple SLI successfully?

cheers

Paul

SETI@Home does not require SLI, indeed, there are many, many occasions where using SLI has had a significant adverse impact on the performance of SETI@Home.

Is anyone running multiple 1080s and if so what configuration / nvidia driver are you using?

cheers

Yes, triple, no SLI.
Running under Linux, but the same system was running under Windows until I got bored with the perpetual forced updates messing things up (a real pain on a machine that rarely sees a monitor)
Indeed the top three computers are all multi GTX1080.

So are you saying to stick the extra card(s) in but not connect them? I got an SLI motherboard expecting that SLI is required to use multiple cards. No?

Just put the additional GPUs in, and DO NOT connect them.

Your motherboard does not "require" your cards to be linked, it is either the operating system or the programs you are running that makes this requirement. All four of my motherboards are "SLI" motherboards, all four have more than one GPU installed, and I do not use SLI. SLI is a technology to synchronise multiple GPUs for the purposes of improving the frame-rate/resolution characteristics. When used for computation this synchronisation causes a significant reduction in the performance of the GPUs, thus is best turned off, or not enabled.

What are the adverse affects on S@H GPU computation from SLI?

Massive reduction in performance - see my earlier post: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=81721&postid=1879030
