I am interested in finding people who are using specific cpu chips. I was wondering if there is anyway to search for specific users with specific cpu's?

Not that I am aware of, except looking down through the Statistics pages.
Top Participants, and Top Computers is a good start, but you would have to look through thousands to get all the information.
Perhaps much of the information you want is within the top 100-200 or so listings in each category.

Don't believe there is a search function in the Seti forums that will give you that info.
It would be a bit of work, but you could pull up the Top Computers list, copy and paste the info into a text file, and then do a search on the text file. Cumbersome, but might be more efficient than manually looking at all those hosts.

Have you seen this list?

Might be interesting, but I don't see a way for the OP to get data on individual hosts, which I believe is what he is after.

I am interested in recruiting all the Boinc/Seti owners of certain cpus (which commonly show up on Z400's, Z600's etc) for the purpose of getting lots of engagement on a Z machine thread I have just started. So far, I haven't had any luck using the profile search.

I guess you could use BOINC Stats, using the Project and then Host filters at the left on the page, which would allow you to look down through the CPU/Cores column.....it would be time consuming though.

You could download the master user xml files and search through them.
They are available somewhere, but I don't see them right now.

They're at https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/stats/. However, it might be worth reading the thread "Is there are way or a place to get the bulk data from: Statistics | Top Computers/Hosts?" concerning the large file size and searchability issues before jumping in feet first.

You are right, they are pretty good sized. BUT if the information includes both the user email and the specs on the cpu then it is exactly what I am looking for. I even have a fairly recent vintage Access 2010. If I can get it loaded and end up with fields with some search functionality. Hmmmm....

It maybe however that Notepad++ would be able to simply "find" all the X5670's for instance and that would give me a list that I can some how send out emails or PM's to.

Umm, Do you seriously think the SETI team would have any emails included in that data?
User ID and name, OK, but do expect anything you can't normally see.

Tom

The 4.5GB file is a bit to large for Notepad++, but there are 927 hosts that have Xeon X5670 CPUs in the host stats output.
