I have two servers running SETI@home and it was all fine until today noon. They run into same issue at around 15:30 PDT.

I haven't changed any configurations on server or network. Restarting BOINC or rebooting didn't help.

Looking at server status, I feel it's just me. Anyone else running into same problem? Other than capturing all packets and trying to sort through, is there an easier way to know which hostname it's trying to resolve?

And I've got stuck on a "Upload: pending (project backoff hh:mm:ss)" message, it has just started for nothing, a few hours ago. Is the server down?

If you check the "Panic Mode On (1xx) Server Problems?" thread here you find out that we are all in the same boat. ;-)

Cheers.

Thank you very much. I actually skimmed through the thread before posting, but totally didn't read till the end and realize it's exactly same issue. Sorry for the double post.

I ran WCG and SETI and use each other as WU backup when one project is offline. Then this weekend both projects had unplanned outage leaving me in a bit of disbelief...

Me too, except I have also have Rosetta for cpu and Gpugrid for the gpu (its set at 0 because it downloads 12 hour tasks....) on one of my boxes.

When this ort of thing happens, check the 'Panic Mode On' thread. You'll see we're all suffering from the unresponsive servers. Hopefully, it will be sorted when the Berkeley guys come back to work in the morning.

SETI servers are working just fine.

A DNS problem simply means we don't know where they are.

Try these addresses:

208.68.240.118	setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu	# upload server Oct 2016
208.68.240.119	boinc2.ssl.berkeley.edu # download server Oct 2016
208.68.240.126	setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu	# scheduler Oct 2016

Exactly. That's what tells you where the problem lies.

Sorry, I'm not going to answer these questions individually by private message - I've got work to do today.

This seems a reasonable help site:

I simply cannot be bothered to do anything about it. It is only Seti for gods sake not the end of the world. If I run out of work I'll go crunch Einstein. It will come back when it's ready.

I support Richards take on it. Let's all get on with the day job, this is a hobby.
It's a personal choice.

Those that want to fix it - I've given you the data and the tools.

Those that want to go out for a day in the sunshine - enjoy.

No, it's not the end of the world.
But we have been told, on several occasions, that we have more work than resources to process it.
Keeping the wok flowing, and paying Credit on par with other projects, are the 2 most important factors in attracting & retaining new crunchers.

You chose to crunch other projects, and good for you. However I choose to do Seti and if I can, I will. If not, then I get to save some power.
