Hi there im kind of new to boinc, been running it bout 2-3 weeks now, but it keeps on crashing. Sometimes 5x in hour sometimes it can last for 2hour and then crash.
I v got i5 6600 overlocked to 4,5Ghz, GTX 1070 and 16 G ram + SSD running win 10. On my laptop its running almost 24 h/d and it didnt crash single time ( win 7 ).
I upgraded all drivers yet it didnt help at all. I set it up to only use 2 threads on the processor but problem didnt disepear. [and sorry for my eng]

Things to try.

1) Add TThrottle to keep your 6600 from over heating. Set the temperature to whatever research shows should be a reasonable limit. It could be as high as 75C , or 71C or much lower/higher. My understanding is the Intel cpu self throttles if the temperature exceeds 100C. I run 71C on a Xeon and 75C on a i7-3770.

2) With all threads / cores enabled, try dropping your OverClocking to 0. Basically see if the problem goes away without overclocking. If the problem goes away try over clocking at a lower level. You could start at stock speed and bump it up 5% every couple of days.

3) Do you have a power surge protector, line conditioner (takes care of both power surges and "brown outs" ) or an uninterruptable power supply? Your laptop probably has a battery in place which takes care of similar power fluctuations.

4) Do a multi-hour ram burn in test. Does your ram pass?

5) If none of the above "fixes" your problems I suggest you post a copy of your mb*sog.txt file on the off chance that something in there is the problem.

As with the OP, the first two things I would check are overheating and memory errors which can sometimes be fixed by simply reseating the DIMMs. Links to the best utilities I know of (and free.)

Nice link, thanks. The core temps appear to be varying between 46 and 61 C.

Basic Windows Task Manager doesn't show an overload on RAM.

I just looked at the computer's BIOS. The CPU and System fan speeds are running an average of 2000 RPM's, but I couldn't find a maximum temp for when they decide to ramp up. I know they do periodically, because I hear it for a minute or two, once an hour or so.

Thanks, Tom. Based on the temperatures I've noted, I think that nebulous whea error may actually be related to a slightly overheated issue in my computer. I'm going to try to figure out how to increase the fan speeds, or decrease the target temp for their activation.

Are you running TThortle? It will keep the processor temperature at or below whatever you set it at. It basically keeps the cpu from frying itself.

So today i got some free time to spend and i did many things (overclocked to 4,3Ghz, run a lot of diagn., check ram + hdd and more) and its running now without those restarts and freezing problems :)
I ll be back if problems return, for now ty for yr advices and suggestions
