Just had another look-see, and I do not find any true bargains yet on 1080 series cards on ebay. And folks are getting bolder. Used cards are being listed at new or near new prices. And the 'black box' EVGA warranty replacement cards are showing up now as well......which could be new or refurbished. And again, asking prices are near that of new cards. Meow..................... So the list price for a Gtx 1080 is apparently $549 on GeForce. On Ebay[Buy it Now pricing] NewEgg had a few and were offering them at that price. Others were at a premium. List for Gtx 1070 was $399. On Ebay[Buy it now pricing] there were a few at $430, then $489, $500 List for Gtx 1060 3GB/6GB is $299. On Ebay[Buy it now pricing] there was $199, $230. $250 for 3GB and $304, $309, $324 for 6GB cards. List for Gtx 1050 $109 and Gtx 1050 Ti $139. On Ebay[Buy it now pricing] there was $129-$140 upto $170 for the 1050 and the 1050 Ti starting at about $170 and going upto $370+ with an outlier at $900+ So at the moment only the Gtx 1060 series are selling at any discount at all. I can't believe that anyone is buying a 1050Ti for $170+ when they can get roughly twice that many cores in a 1060 for only $30-$40 more. It might be the 75 Watt TDP that keeps the buyer on a 1050 Ti. Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

I see that ebay has started some enforcement activities. Most of the 'too good to be true' listings of 'new' 1080s for under $100.00 are now either coming up as listing has ended or more often listing has been removed. Meow meow meow! I'm seeing quite a few 970 and 980s on there. Most are ACX designs, which I don't care for as they throw the heat back into the case. ![]() ![]() |

They are good candidates for converting over to Hybrids! lol Oh, can you convert non-Ti versions to hybrid? I only have experience doing that with the 980Ti's. And man can those tiny screws be a bugger to get out, what with the loctite they used... :-/ ![]() ![]() |

You can convert the 980s and 970s to hybrids, IF you can still find the hybrid kits. They stopped making those. (sidenote, I'm going to be putting up some of those kits on ebay in the coming days but they need thermal paste) The 10X0s kits have a slightly different water block over the chip so it doesn't sit flush. I have converted many of those cards in the past. Yeah I had to get a screwdriver kit from my computer store just for that purpose. |

Looked at ebay and the Gtx 1060's appear to have returned to rationality. Going for just a shade over $200 in the "buy it now" listings. (several Votac mini's). I am seeing Gtx 1080's from $490 to $550. Hmmmm..... (licks lips....). Gtx 1070 in the $460 to $490 range. So has the bubble collapsed? Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

Or, has the supply been amped up? I am hoping the former. ![]() ![]() |

Or, has the supply been amped up? I am hoping the former. I would hope for BOTH. Then maybe we see some discounting again. Meow! "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

True, but if the demand is falling off, it means that those yahoos are probably feeling the burn right about now, and there will hopefully be a glut of hopefully not terribly abused cards coming to the 2ndary market. Which we could all benefit from, it's just that there is the risk of getting a lemon here or there, but if the price is low enough, and the 3 year warranty is transferable, at least EGVAs, so that does give you a bit of time where you'd be covered. Though you would have to deal with the RMA hassle, but hopefully that would be reflected in the price. Interesting to see what the next 3-6 months brings. But yes, many options and choices are best, that's for certain! ![]() ![]() |
