What wonderful ars****es employed by councils.

They were caught when council workers discovered their flat did not exist, Isleworth Crown Court heard.
Both said they were residing in flat 91 on the 19th floor - flat 91 is actually on the 12th floor.

What wonderful & highly efficent council employees we have

I find it sickening that these two (and there may be more) decided that the fire at grenfell was their meal ticket.
Punishment - sit them in a room a with a few of the more vocal real survivors and rescuers every day for a month or two (at least)

â—¾The lifts failed to perform effectively, hindering the transportation of firefighting equipment and creating an "unnecessary risk" to residents who could not use it to escape
â—¾The fire service had to pump its own water into Grenfell Tower - the building's "dry fire main" system was "non-compliant" with guidance at the time of construction and is "non-compliant with current standards"
â—¾The smoke control system did not operate correctly, reducing the ability to improve both escape and firefighting conditions
â—¾Existing building guidelines and tests allow "obvious dangers" to be incorporated into cladding systems routinely
â—¾An "architecture crown" fitting at the top of the tower caught alight and fell down, allowing the fire to move around the tower not just up

Two quotes from different sources that highlight all that is wrong with our current system.

One would think that for such a "small" cost, the richest borough in the country could have covered it as well as the annual upkeep!

It would be a shame to see a man who has the guts to stand up and say "I was outside my comfort zone" pilloried when it's those further up the tree who should be facing the questions rather than hiding in the back ground.
