Apparently I am a little giddy.... Anyway, I have a HP-400 Xeon box running 8 cores of which 7 are dedicated to Seti cpu processing. Now don't get me wrong, they aren't lightning fast but they do appear to be processing. Using "inspection" I would say they are taking at or less than 3.5 hours per task. So by calculation there should be this many: (1440 minutes per day/(3.5 hours per task X 60 minutes)) X 7 cpus = about 48 cpu tasks a day for that computer. I can only find about 7 cpu tasks in the last 3-4 days as listed on the website. Given the number of GPU tasks from the same computer on the website, I am assuming that nothing has gotten "hung up" in posting tasks from my computer. Any ideas? Task results are only shown online for up to 24 hours after validation. If your CPUs are slower than your quorum partner and you're the second one to return your result, those results will be removed within 24 hours and therefor you won't show a large backlog. GPUs on the other hand are very fast and are frequently the first to return their result, thus the results will remain visible on the website longer until the quorum partner returns their copy. |

So you are saying that my cpu "pendings" are getting validated and then removed after 24 hours? I'm confused because I see validated results hanging around for "several days". Specifically I see some dated as long ago as 15 May 2017. So I think I don't understand your explanation. Could you expand it into more specific details? I've just had a look through your "valid" results - in each case where you returned your result a long time ago the wingman has returned within the last 24 hours, so things are as they should be. Are you sure it's the same exact result you looked at "several" days ago? Can you provide specific examples of validated work hanging out for several days? |

Can you provide specific examples of validated work hanging out for several days? http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=7327799&offset=240&show_names=0&state=4&appid= I kept hitting previous on the "valid" results listing until I ran out of "previous". The "last" page listing for "valid" has 6 listings for "several days" old. Other listings include many tasks which are more than 24 hours old (I think). It maybe that I am misunderstanding the column that says "Time reported or deadline" Tom Miller A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

"Time reported" is the time YOU reported the task, NOT the time your wingman reported. from one of your wingmen: 5763795083 7262970 26 May 2017, 0:45:11 UTC 5 Jun 2017, 4:15:07 UTC Completed and validated 14,011.25 363.48 111.07 SETI@home v8 for a task you reported several days earlier: 5761337892 7327799 25 May 2017, 0:30:29 UTC 25 May 2017, 19:10:03 UTC Completed and validated 2,436.86 2,431.07 111.07 SETI@home v8 Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Click on the Work unit links for details of when both you and your wingman reported those tasks. You'll see that the wingman reported all of them at last June 4th, or today. |

If you click on the link in the "Workunit" column, you'll see that each one of those validated had a quroum partner that recently validated with you within the last 24 hours. Other listings include many tasks which are more than 24 hours old (I think). Again, they have to be validated first. Validation requires two SETI participants to have closely matching results. Once they have been validated, then the workunit is removed from the website. This means some workunits will get removed faster than others depending on how quickly a result is validated. It maybe that I am misunderstanding the column that says "Time reported You're only looking at the time reported for you. What about the time reported for your quorum partner? |
