Hmmmmmm. My own theory of our local universe expanding into the main universe seems to alighn with this suggestion. If there are other expanding universes out there from their own local big bangs, then the remnants of ours could in theory collide with the remnants of theirs. Notice I say remnants. That is individual stars hitting other stars. Parallel universes are generally taken to be a mirror image of our own where we all exist as we do now here, but in different lives. e.g. Wiggo could be President of the United States. (No, scrub that idea, rewind!) There may well be other local universes out there in the main one, but to describe them as parallel is misleading pseudo sci fi journalism. |

Hmmmm? Evidence for Parallel Universes - Max Tegmark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJpIclDmi2M https://sv-se.facebook.com/Max-Tegmark-461616050561921/ "Known as Mad Max for my unorthodox ideas and passion for adventure, my scientific interests range from precision cosmology to the ultimate nature of reality" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Tegmark The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden I studied there as well:) |

A theory , speculation or supposition is of little use to science if it cannot be tested to be true or falsified. How would we verify the existence of many universes. BAH Humbug !! |

A theory , speculation or supposition is of little use to science if it cannot be tested to be true or falsified. Hehe:) In the quantum world these phenom's happens all the time. Double split experiment for instance. Since the universe that we are part of surely we will experience something like it. Rather tricky though since scientist has still to reunificate Newton's and Einstein's work. |

I entirely agree William, there is no way that mankind could verify the existence of another parallel universe or indeed any other universe. There is simply no way to. This Swedish guy sounds totally weird, and yet a professor?? My own theory is of course just as unprovable, and is only put forward as a thought provoking exercise. |

This Swedish guy sounds totally weird, and yet a professor?? My own theory is of course just as unprovable, and is only put forward as a thought provoking exercise. Sigh... He is a professor at MIT. Do you know what MIT is? I guess not. Oh He have met Hugh Everett's son, another "believer" of parallel universes. https://vimeo.com/58603054 |

He is a professor at MIT. I actually did read the article before I posted. Point 1 - MIT is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Point 2 - From your own post - "Known as Mad Max for my unorthodox ideas" What is it with you Scandinavians? |

What is it with you Scandinavians? Chris it is the well known phenomenon called lutefisk poisoning. |

What is it with you Scandinavians? Hehe:) That's in Norway. And Seattle as well:) |

What is it with you Scandinavians? Seattle is an hour ferry boat ride east of me, but Poulsbo is 15 min drive north. |

What is it with you Scandinavians? Yes:) http://www.thestranger.com/events/24724830/lutfisklutefisk-dinner But then again maybe we Scandinavians live in a parallel universe. |

Well scientists believe they may have discovered evidence of a parallel universe that crashed into our own in a galactic impact mirroring a car crash. Ain't that just a slight " re - jigging of " M " theory ? seams basicly the same idea just with a slight slant on how it's written . Even if it is it's unprovable at our current tech levels and probably stay that way for centuys Life is what you make of it :-) When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-) |

But then again maybe we Scandinavians live in a parallel universe. Here's a parallel universe. http://www.visitpoulsbo.com/event/sons-of-norway-lutefisk-and-meatball-dinner/ |

But then again maybe we Scandinavians live in a parallel universe. Not to me:) Off topic? Not really. Nobel laureates loves the Nobel dinner after the prize ceremony. But I don't think Norwegians eat so much meatballs. |

But then again maybe we Scandinavians live in a parallel universe. Well it certainly isn't our one that is for sure!!! C'mon guys back on topic. |

But then again maybe we Scandinavians live in a parallel universe. It was you who started to be off topic! You started here https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=81447&postid=1867939#1867939 |

But I don't think Norwegians eat so much meatballs. No but the Norwegians allowed a few Swedes to live in Poulsbo and they eat Swedish meatballs. |

But I don't think Norwegians eat so much meatballs. So there is a parallel universe after all that collided:) As a reminder of the city's early Scandinavian immigrants, downtown Poulsbo maintains a Scandinavian theme and is a popular regional tourist destination. One of its local products is now available worldwide, Poulsbo Bread, originally made in the local bakery. |
