Cannot Install BOINC on Linx Mint 18.1

Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file. Select a different character encoding from the menu and try again. Anyone have any ideas way I cannot get it installed? ID: 1866293 ·

(this is in Cinnamon; if you have a different desktop these may be different.) You can do this and launch via command line... right-click in the folder it is in and choose to open a command prompt there. Then do the commands: chmod +x Whateverx86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh ./Whateverx86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh You can of course copy the filename and right-click -> Paste in the command window to avoid typing it. If you are unsure where it is in Home you can click the magnifying glass icon at the top-right and search for it (a piece of the file name is enough.) Again, I'm assuming your desktop environment is Cinnamon. If not please advise. ID: 1866306 ·

How ever I did not find allow executing. when I tried running your command I got the following. chmod: cannot access 'Whateverx86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh': No such file or directory ID: 1866307 ·
