. . True! But I am loathe to walk away from the project. (More fool me maybe).

Me too. That is why I have started crunching a couple of others on low priority for the cpu and have GpuGrid on 0 priority. When I get a task from Gpugrid (NVidia only please) it takes at least 12-16 hours on my Gtx 1060. And I had one take 24 hours on my Gtx 1060 Ti. :)

I did get my hosts file updated with the IP addresses so I got my SOG tasks back pretty fast. If I hadn't I might have even had 2 GpuGrid tasks in a row..... Yes, they pay well on the credit side. But I "loves my Seti" ;)

FYI, It looks like all the Breakthrough splitters are working fine. In the last 11 hours the tapes have progressed as follows:
blc05_2bit_guppi_57834_85569_HIP26074_0007 ... (55) --> (92)
blc05_2bit_guppi_57834_86041_HIP27207_0008 ... (33) --> (43)
blc05_2bit_guppi_57834_86398_HIP26033_0009 ... (19) --> (29)
blc05_2bit_guppi_57835_00353_HIP27207_0010 ... (1) --> (11)

I wonder if shutting down 3 of the 7 pfb splitters would help the Arecibo vlar swapping issue from these 2016 tapes. At least make the data flow more evenly.

If someone is talking to Eric, it might be worth a mention.

I too would like to see the results of that configuration. Hope that someone drops a bug in Eric's ear.

No pity needed, we ran that woose out of the white house and replace him with someone that understands what it means to be the Leader of the Free World.

No, it's Territory day (Northern Territory Australia).

Will be fireworks going off all over the place from late afternoon (although they're not meant to start till 19:00). Last year it was like the Battle of the Somme all over again...

I got a batch of resends, so I checked the server cache delay ... it's 8h10m ... it's usually about 4.5h !!!

I haven't received any BLC tasks in about 8 hrs. So your observation about the server cache delay is making sense to me. They were splitting out BLC tasks for a while into the RTS buffer, then that stopped and then the RTS buffer filled up with Arecibo VLARs. It seems that the RTS buffer gets padded with either/or slugs of BLC or Arecibo tasks sequentially. There is no intermixing.

It's all a bit silly.
While there was AP work about, I was able to (mostly) get both Arecibo & GBT v8 work.
Now, like everyone else, it's pretty much Arecibo only, on those rare occasions a request for work results in getting some.

. . I am, that is what is bothering me, I am selecting notepad with the right mouse key and selecting run as adminstrator, but it will not let me save the file after I have edited it ... Computers are such fun

Sounds like Windows (or other program) has made the file attribute READ-ONLY. Have seen this happen on some Win 7 & 8.x boxes I have worked on.
Try this:
1) Open a Command prompt as an ADMINISTRATOR and CHANGE THE ATTRIBUTE of the file ...
2) At cmd prompt type (without quotes): "attrib -h -s -r C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"
3) Exit cmd prompt.
4) Open the hosts file with notepad as an ADMINISTRATOR, make edit and save. Exit Notepad.
Hope this works.

I found it easier to copy the Hosts file to another folder, edit and save it, then copy and replace the existing Hosts file.

Now that I have turned of AP work since none is splitting, I am not getting MB work. Just the your computer has reached the limit of tasks in progress message. Down about 50 task so far on each machine from quota.

I did the application flip to no AP, got some work, left it for a few request but no further work, went to to accepting AP, and got more work. Then it's back to no work for most requests, maybe 50-10 on every 5th to 9th request?
So cache slowly running out again.
And still no GBT work in sight.

. . Ditto! Except on my two Linux crunchers which have nearly full caches. But both Windows boxes are starving to death ... I got so desperate I increased my CPU queue limits to fill it with Arecibo VLARS and moved them to the GPUs to crunch. But that is slow and tedious with all the fiddling about and still no other work coming through. The 950 is chewing it's way through some GBT work that had been in the CPU Q and was immediately replaced with a full load of Arecibo VLARs.

. . I have now set both the Windows boxes to GPU only like the Linux boxes but still NADA.

"Windows won't let me edit the hosts file anymore (well I can edit it but I cannot save the edit), but otherwise the 2 Window rigs are the same."

With WIndows 10, you need to edit the file as an Admin (run notepad as Administrator) in order to save the file.

:(

Just ran into this myself today. To solve it, from Windows Explorer change the Properties on the Hosts file to permit full access, before trying to edit it in Notepad. In my experience, run as Admin is useless.

. . To be fair, there are some improvements. It actually does a whole lot of things very well. But the way M$ approaches administering the OS is what really, really sucks the big one. If there was a way to remove/refine those aspects of the OS it would be really quite wonderful.

. . Hi Jimbo,

. . Thanks for that. It took a few tries because of the different layers of security and even though I am an administrator it took extra changes to make it work, but I was able to finally re-edit the file.
