I haven't seen a BLC tasks in a few days for some reason also. Are they even being split? Are splitters stuck on those files or something? Nothing but Arecibo VLARs have been received. Where did all the Arecibo standard AR's go? Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Where did all the Arecibo standard AR's go? . . Hi Keith, . . For the record I have had a mixture, some BLC, some Arecibo (mostly shorties), but mainly Arecibo VLARs. It has been very difficult to get work for the GPUs. My two Linux machines are GPU only crunchers and they are very low on work, one keeps running out and has been doing this for the last 2 days (been chalking up lots of E@H tasks though). Oh, and on one machine a surprisingly high number of APs. In fact I have had a few of those on 3 of the 4 machines. I suspect I would have had them on the machine with almost no work except it does not have an AP app installed :(. I must fix that. . . Let's hope they sort it out soon. Stephen ?? |

The only thing that makes sense to me is if almost all the RTS was Arecibo VLARs. There was other work but very little. The new work being split was mostly CPU VLARs leaving a shortage of GPU tasks. Maybe the RTS should be split to half Arecibo and half BLC so the GPUs don't run out of work. All I could download this morning was CPU VLARs. Right after I posted this morning the flood gates opened and I was swamped. I dunno, except all I could get this morning was CPU tasks. |

Hi Stephen, there is a fix for no AP app ..... Lunatics if a Windows machine. If not there's always the Lunatics web site for the Linux apps. I was up over a 100 AP tasks for all three machines up to a day before the outage and let them finish up before rescheduling by un-setting AP work. Now is time to get back to the AP work. Sure pays out better than Arecibo MB vlars for the same running time. I've still had to play the preferences toggle game this past week to be consistently fed but it is getting harder to make the trick work lately. I sure wish that the project administrators would acknowledge the problem and fix it or at least say when a fix is imminent. Hi Stephen, there is a fix for no AP app ..... If not there's always the Lunatics web site for the Linux apps. . . Hey there Keith . . I will have to pay that site a visit and download it. But I too am finding this flakiness of the download servers kind of tiring. Hopefully someone will pay it a little attention and with luck find a fix. It's damned difficult to process work for the project when it won't send you any ... Stephen ?? |

It's damned difficult to process work for the project when it won't send you any I've been running the Windows Lunatics for quite a while, just installed Beta 6 from Mike's World to get rid of the MB v& stuff and replace Cuda50 with SoG 8.20, due to Cuda's increasing instability on newer NVidia driver releases. After a bit of tuning, SoG is running nicely here. [edit] oops, looks like Mike doesn't mirror the Linux builds. Guess the Linux download is here. |

Isn't that the "special sauce" Linux CUDA builds? The Linux ones on the Lunatics site I think are the standard project Linux apps. Correct me if wrong. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Ahhh! Gotcha. See that both standard and special sauce app are referenced in the thread. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

The only thing that makes sense to me is if almost all the RTS was Arecibo VLARs. There was other work but very little. The new work being split was mostly CPU VLARs leaving a shortage of GPU tasks. Even when I de-selected Use Nvidia GPU and only had Use CPU selected, I still wasn't able to get any work. So I think it's more than just the work type, it all comes back to whatever happened in late Dec. Maybe the RTS should be split to half Arecibo and half BLC so the GPUs don't run out of work. All I could download this morning was CPU VLARs. Right after I posted this morning the flood gates opened and I was swamped. I dunno, except all I could get this morning was CPU tasks. With the present number of GBT & Arecibo splitters running, the work spread should be about 50/50. But that certainly isn't the case. Have the GBT splitters all become stuck again? Grant Darwin NT |

That is exactly what I'm thinking. It may show that splitters are working on BLC files, but nothing is coming out of them. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

BTW, I sent Eric a message about the lack of GPU work 8 hours before maintenance. I received a reply this afternoon "Jeff Cobb is out sick the last two days, and I'm traveling, so it might we a little while before we get appropriate data back in the queue. Thanks for letting me know." I'm not sure who is watching the project, it could be in the "If it's running don't touch it" mode. |

Thanks for the head's up Brent. At least we know the administrators are aware of the issue. Hope they can get to it before the weekend. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

. . Thanks Jimbo, but they are the Petri/TBar special sauce versions. I need something with the AP app. Stephen :( |

. . Yep that is my take on it as well. With the present number of GBT & Arecibo splitters running, the work spread should be about 50/50. But that certainly isn't the case. Have the GBT splitters all become stuck again? . . ATM I am getting truckloads of GBT tasks .... so I would guess not stuck. Stephen ? |

I'll just report again that I've had no problems getting all types of workunits here still. Cheers. |

And we're back to random allocation/non allocation of work. EDIT- at least this time around the application flipping is working. And GBT is scarce again, only GBT work i'm getting are resends. And that appears to be the case for Arecibo as well; at least for the last 2 requests that got work. Grant Darwin NT |
