Well news of California wildfires is pretty common these days. But Thousands being evacuated from France’s Mediterranean cost(sic) is news.

Guess this is a good place as any for this one...
Humans actually come from another galaxy - along with everything else

Humans could actually consider themselves ‘space travelers’ or ‘extragalactic immigrants’, a scientist has said – after a new study showed we come from outside our own Milky Way.

Scientists from Northwestern University astrophysicists found that up to half the matter in our galaxy – and within our own bodies – comes from distant galaxies.

The scientists used supercomputer simulations to show that matter is often transferred between galaxies.

Supernova explosions eject vast amounts of gas from galaxies, which causes atoms to be transported from one galaxy to another via powerful galactic winds.

As much as half of the atoms inside our bodies may have come from other galaxies – millions of light years away.

That is really nothing more that what Carl Sagan said 30 years ago.
“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.”

This is what partly attracted Me to Seti@Home...

There are those who believe that life here began out there far across the universe,
with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or Toltecs, or the Mayans,
some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive,
somewhere beyond the heavens...

Vic, that is sort of missing the point of the story. Read it. It's not talking about races from outer space (which I think do exist by the way). It's talking about elements created in stars of distant galaxies having traveled. Not fully formed beings. Just elements.

This was also a subject that Dr Brian Cox went into, in his excellent TV series on the BBC, "Wonders of the Universe". The creation of elements from the processes that power the stars during their life and in a way, perhaps more importantly for us, their 'death'. We are indeed, made of the stuff of stars.

Royal beer

Croydon is a right royal PITA and has been for decades. Time and time again we read of stories that say we don't want our town to become a second Croydon. It maybe a place to shop, but nobody wants to live there.

Reads to me like trying to create scandal and controversy out of nothing much.

The Queen owns many companies that operate for profit. Why shouldn't one (or several) of them be a warehouse, and why shouldn't that warehouse be a beer distribution center?

To the point you yourself seem to be making, all I can say is "This is Zaphod Beeblebrox from Betelgeuse V, you know, not bloody Martin Smith from Croydon!"

I wrote a long positive reply to your rather silly statement, but decided you didn't deserve a proper reply.

Royal beer.

A warehouse full of beer which is owned by the Queen?
And why do they store the Danish beer Carlsberg there?
Oh. Maybe Queen Elisabeth II and Queen Margrethe II has a deal.

Weird then that as "no one wants to live in Croydon" it is in fact the largest London borough by population.

I can see the headlines now "363,000 people held against their will in Croydon"

Your post are so one sided, what you say goes and everyone else is wrong.

But do care, no, I will be sending links to this thread to the Croydon Advertiser, I am sure they will enjoy the laugh ;-)

Might even print it.

PS. Sanderstead and most of Coulsdon are within the London Borough of Croydon

I must be weird :-) For the last 30 minutes, had this tune stuck in my head :-)

On the farm, ev'ry Friday
On the farm, it's rabbit pie day
So ev'ry Friday that ever comes along
I get up early and sing this little song

Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run
Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run
Bang, bang, bang, bang goes the farmer's gun
Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run, run

Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run
Don't give the farmer his fun, fun, fun
He'll get by without his rabbit pie
So run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run

Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run
Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run
Bang, bang, bang, bang goes the farmer's gun
Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run, run

Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run
Don't give the farmer his fun, fun, fun
He'll get by without his rabbit pie
So run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run

Primm NV(used to be called Primm and Proper NV), people work there, but not one house or apartment is nearby this NV/CA border town, I think people commute from Las Vegas NV.

Not sure where you get your information but the town was named after the original developer of the town, Ernest Jay Primm. Before that it was named Stateline. It's never been named Primm and Proper. As for houses and apartments, in 2002 52 apartment buildings were constructed in Primm to serve as housing for employees at the three casinos. The Official population is around 450-500. And there are houses out there. I worked on a solar project out there for about 6 months. There was one house, next to the airport, in particular that a lot of my guys would visit every night. Remind me what a red light on the porch stands for?
