I haven't really heard anything about medical marijuana in my state - Kentucky - I don't think it's an option, yet. It's always been surprising to me that Kentucky is so conservative about it. It seems like the tobacco farmers and their legal representatives would welcome a new cash crop that is better for people since they have lost so much ground in the decline of cigarettes. Nice idea Rather than have the authorities remove the signs, set up cameras, let them congregate then pass the film to the police. |

a Canadian citizen who drives from Vancouver to Seattle may be asked by a border agent if they have smoked pot before, and if they say yes, they could get banned from entry to the U.S. for life I had no idea they asked that question. Do they do that for all foreigners, like people flying in from other countries? The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

So far it has worked out well in my state. As far as I can tell the only losers are the underground growers. They can't compete on price despite the high taxes because of the economies of scale the commercial growers have. |

Coca-Cola is keeping an eye on "the growth of non-psychoactive cannabidiol as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages" and had exploratory talks with Canadian licensed producer Aurora Cannabis about developing marijuana-infused beverages.Money talks, sensibility walks |

Thanks, Pierre! Good links. I once thought U.S. alcohol laws with individual state and county differences right down to neighborhood wet/dry precincts and no bar so many feet from a church were complicated, but it looks like marijuana legalization also has quite a labyrinthic set of caveats. UNOFFICIAL: With the recently added job perks, Canadian firefighters' unions are ready to slash down their members' wages "House fire - burning weed makes fire fighter high" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTftmdoRIEY #humor (note: Canadian firefighters apparently lacking the gumption to give on-the-job interviews to the press while under the influence, this old but golden video of a willing San Diego, CA firefighter has been used for illustrative purposes) There is just no final frontier to real pioneers =:)As for your's truly, I'll double-look left and right even at green lights for the next few weeks =:)Mr.Kevvy > Indeed.... Winnipeg's 1st toking and driving ticket issued 1 hour into legalization Ah, Winnipeg. Staying classy as always... :^) Gary > yes cell phone drivers are dangerous like twice the legal limit ...Makes sense, and you're not alone to think that. “Driving under the influence of marijuana is extremely dangerous,†Property Casualty Insurers Association of America senior vice president Robert Gordon says. "In fact, driving under the influence of marijuana should be viewed with the same risks as drunk or distracted driving. When you’re high, it can impair your judgment, motor coordination and reaction time." I'm glad the various canadian jurisdictions are taking the risks of stoned driving as seriously as drunk and/or distracted driving (in addition to secondary smoke nuisance problems in public places), especially as each of them compound the overall risks many times when they are simultaneously present. Gordon > I once thought U.S. alcohol laws with individual state and county differences right down to neighborhood wet/dry precincts and no bar so many feet from a church were complicated, but it looks like marijuana legalization also has quite a labyrinthic set of caveats. And you probably have left schools out of the picture regarding these "no bars in churches' vicinity" laws ! While driving with friends through north-eastern states for an orienteering competition many years ago, a passenger jokingly suggested we drink a sip of beer each time we crossed a church along the way. These being so flabbergastingly numerous and since we intended to have a competitive chance upon arrival while intending at all costs to avoid road accidents, "everlasting hellfire condamnations" and law enforcement problems, we were glad to have left home north of the 45th latitude any trace element of alcoholic beverage: we juat had a good lagh at the joke and urged the aforementioned passenger to pull out another (less life-theathening) joke from his wicked mind. Uruguay, and this year Canada, are the first countries to fully legalize cannabis. I don't know yet how successful Uruguay's experiment has been, but I'm confident Canada's latest "Citizen Science" experiment (lol) on the legalization of this soft recreational substance will be a success (which will stomp on territory organized crime was too happy to exploit) as it tackles the remaining legal and public health "known unknowns" issues along the next months and years. And you probably have left schools out of the picture regarding these "no bars in churches' vicinity" laws ! Yes, and one way bars circumvent the archaic rule here is by measuring the distance from corner to corner and down the street, rather than as the crow flies, diagonally, thus ensuring a walking distance beyond the stipulated length.
