Bullying is something to be taken very seriously. There's definitely some inane taunting going on, but I don't see the posts in this thread as threatening. Everyone who has posted here knows each other's style pretty well by now, and I think buttons are just being pressed for entertainment.

Discussion of the issue can be done by sending email to: seti_moderators@ssl.berkeley.edu

Conversations about politics don't have to be so ugly; it's no wonder so few people participate in the Politics forum. If I was new and just passing through, there is no way I would be interested in contributing anything here after reading the paths some of these threads take. Let's just all take the hi-road and move on.

What I see going on here is the metaphorical pushing of people's buttons for entertainment. Everybody in this thread has been around for awhile, and we are familiar with a lot of each other's idiosyncracies, and those are easy to exploit. Based on our common knowledge of how we interact with each other on the Politics forum, I don't see where any of us in this thread can really say we're suffering emotionally in this thread. That's why, so far, I do not consider any of us victims in the online bullying/flaming sort of way, but we're definitely wasting our time.

Yes, everybody who is playing the game, is to blame. Everybody loses because this thread has devolved into blah.

Playing the victim card is in itself a dark form of entertainment.

As Britney Spears would say, "Oops, I did it again."

I almost said what Wiggo said, but I didn't think that would be politically correct.

What I mean by the chicken or egg thing is, it's hard to find a starting point. We're all guilty on some level for posting something at some time that offends someone. Sometimes it's intentional, but most of the time I don't think people aim to be hurtful.

If the Flamer's will allow.

Flaming: "or with many people teaming up on a single victim". No threats need be to be involved to be considered Flaming.

As Fred - SETI Forums Admin setiforums at ssl.berkeley.edu instructed: "Do not spam the board with flames. That is not acceptable behavior."

https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=77714&postid=1701519#1701519

Pushing buttons for entertainment? No.

Flaming for entertainment? Yes.

Edit: Much more important. Is the destruction of any serious discussion by the Flamer's and their excusal.

Consider you are not being "teamed up on" but that many of us feel that your redundant and often inane posts should be commented on.

Australia aims for global domination of medicinal cannabis market.

Cheers.

Quoted comment from that page says it all. har...
And now just to throw a bucket of insult into this bathtub full if injury, the Australian government wants to be a big exporter of medical cannabis to countries with up to date laws and attitudes while restricting the benefits of this panacea as much as possible at home.

Why am I not surprised?

Along with a right-frontal brain injury from a high speed collision with a semi, I was also left with chronic dicsogenic pain with neuropathy caused by several inoperable prolapsed discs in my thoracic spine which exacerbates the damaged area of my cervical spine that was fused after the crash. This causes muscle spasms and very strong "electric" pain from the middle of my back to the top of my head and usually presents as migraine activity with copious vomiting.

In the 21 years since the injuries my many doctors have pumped me full of all manner of Big Pharma's products from opiates and opioids to gabapentanoids and others that just seemed to be on the basis of "try this and see what happens", some of which worked slightly albeit with side effects, most just produced side effects without benefit and the gabapentanoids nearly finished me.

It was recommended to me by a senior pain management doctor that cannabis would be efficacious for controlling the otherwise unstoppable vomiting, and lo and behold, it not only turns off the vomiting like flicking a switch, it is so efective at treating the nerve pain that I was able to do away with all other meds when trialing it.

That's the good part, unfortunately I am a rural person who relies a driver's licence and needs a firearms licence to control invasive pest species on the property on which I live.

This means that I am unable to access what is in effect a non-toxic cure for the ills that plague me that I could easily grow in the dirt, because if I was to test positive at the roadside neither the police or the courts would care about the reason. I would lose my driver's licence, my firearms licence, my firearms and probably, with guns in the equation, my liberty.

The current drug testing of drivers relies on detecting inactive metabolites in their blood, not active THC which can cause impairment, so even though I would no more drive immediately after using cannabis than I would if I had been drinking, I could be prosecuted a week or more after the last dose and be charged with driving while impaired, even though some police are willing to acknowledge that their testing is more to find users and not impairment.

And now just to throw a bucket of insult into this bathtub full if injury, the Australian government wants to be a big exporter of medical cannabis to countries with up to date laws and attitudes while restricting the benefits of this panacea as much as possible at home.

Why am I not surprised?

As I said, "uninformed", medical marijuana is still going through state trails here ATM so it is not an "Approved" drug as yet and those trials are only being carried out by a handful of doctors in each state (you're lucky if you're a patient of 1 of them, and good on you, if not, then you miss out and have to wait).

I have the same problem and just like him we'll have to wait for the outcome of these trials first (if he talked with his doctor about the subject he'd be much better informed).

Now I'll go back to yawning and enjoy a beer or 2 up the hill. ;-)

Cheers.

Hopefully it works out for you. It is a blessing in so many ways for those in need.

After 40 years of Tinnitus from Vietnam I have relief today.

Also hope they do not tax MMJ to death like my state (Washington) does. Same tax (37%) for both MMJ and recreational marijuana with state sales tax at 9.9% on top. It was a three tier at 25% each and sales tax as fourth tax.

The best I can do is get annual MMJ authorization ($60 - $200 a year), sign a State Register annually and then I do not have to pay state sales tax.

There needs to be a couple of studies on the levels of active THC in the blood and how much is too much to drive. Obviously to do that they need tests to see what the active level is. And tests that can get results quick enough to use for enforcement.

Also it would be nice of big pharma was allowed to rip weed apart into the dozens of chemicals in it and do trials on all the parts to see what works for which things that ails you. Who knows, maybe you don't need to be high for you to get relief.

Here's hoping, but missing out on the full bundle maybe a bit hard to take though.

I only have to drive once a month here into town so I go in clean at those times of the month (they do test for it here, even out in the back blocks) and I much prefer the herbal relief to those of the chemical pills that they're allowed to foist off on me here these last 2 decades, other than that there's no place in this village that I can't hobble to within 10mins on a fair day (and everything I really need here is actually within a block of me so it's even easier).

Pricing is an unknown here yet, but hopefully it may fall into my $6.50-8.50 per script per month job here as someone who is made a pensioner through spinal damage incurred while working ("forced retirement" it maybe called over there after over 20yrs of service) is entitled to.

Cheers.
