There should only be civil agreements of right. Not as of any color has to do with anything to start with your contempt to make it the topic. Have we not grown past the blinder of color and hate. That only promotes itself to no end. This should never be entering the door of any unified program that all races have built together. I since the beginning joined SeTi-HoMe on that very focus of dream all of us have and still do. There's a door. You in your own head know where it is and when it's closed you , I and everyone else are on the same page. If not then back out of that door and make your disagreements in the right place. There is no need to blow up everybody's focus to ones hostile motives or beliefs different from the group fouse. There are other forums for that rant and peace be with you on that. God Bless

I feel that your post might have had more cachet if you had omitted your signature.

At first I didn't know what you were talking about. I live in Cincinnati, and until Berkeley makes it into the USA section, nobody here cares what they do. And they haven't, so--guess what--they are not deemed worthy of national attention.

I am so sorry you have been visited with this mishegass. It never crossed my mind that somebody--anybody-- would try to drag Seti@home into politics. We all just want to see the stars.

I'm glad that you found it funny. I thought it was disrespectful to Eric, the Director of Seti@Home, who was making a very serious point. There is a time and place for levity, and I would judge that this is not it.

It would appear that what you are saying is that not all here represented are clear thinkers and logical planners.........

Hey, Eric!

Sorry to hear that you have been getting curry from ill-informed persons.

However, I have a nit-picking problem with your rules:

The (mostly) archaic second-person singular possessive pronominal adjective is “thy”, not “thine”. “thine” is the possessive pronoun, as in “This book is thy book: this book is thine.” If you were to use the now (almost) universal second-person plural instead, it would be equivalent to you saying — “this book is yours book.”

Shakespeare uses “thine” at least once, for liaison, as in Pelonius’s speech to his son Laertes — “This above all: to thine own self be true, ...” (Hamlet)— but despite the identical spelling, it is still the possessive pronominal adjective “thy” with an “n” added to the end to make it liaise (easier to say) with a word beginning with a vowel (own). None of your nouns following “thine” begin with a vowel, and the sound grates.

Regards,

George

Exactly. He seems to have missed the whole point of the message from Eric and simply picked up on the deliberate non confrontational way that the content was delivered. As I mentioned earlier it was an intended sugar coated pill to make the consumption of a serious matter easier on the intellectual palate.

OMG

I know right? Using "thine" instead of "thy", that's unforgivable. I wonder how many people will NEVER CRUNCH FOR THIS PROJECT AGAIN because of it.

I think you guys are being too critical of gwg. I thought his post was informative and I applaud his knowledge of language.

Did he miss the point of Eric's post? Or was gwg just being playfully helpful? Either way I'm sure Eric appreciates the fun pedanticism.

I'm sure you read what he (gwg)wrote, but i'm am not sure that you realize that what you thought he said was not what he meant... ;->

You got me there. I'm a scientist, so you can't really expect me to speak (or write) English properly. I should have done it in French where the rules are more obvious.

Good Morning Dr Korpela. I would say that your command of the English language puts many to shame quite frankly. Quite apart from which, a final PhD thesis is unlikely to be accepted if is written in pidgin English!
