I have a problem when setting up Boinc Manager into the "startup applications". It simply doesn't work. The Manager starts, but says it's disconnected to the client. I try to connect manually (localhost + password) but even this doesn't work. => When I'm manually starting the Boinc Manager it works. I also tried to set a delay of 20 seconds for starting up the Boinc Manager but this also didn't help. I'm running Linux Mint 18.1. The funny thing is, that this works on my other PC (also 18.1). Any suggestions? Thank you! |

Simple question, but you are starting the BOINC client on that system, before you start BOINC Manager? Starting BOINC Manager on Linux does not start the client, you have to start that separately and before you start the manager. Perhaps even give it some time between them for timed things. |

Thanks for your reply. No I don't start the client separately. The client is already running when the Notebook is starting up because I can see it because of the temps. So it's starting like I set the options (run/crunch always). The only difference is - like I said - that the Manager is not connecting to the localhost when it started on startup automatically. When I boot the Notebook and start the Manager manually it works. In both situations I don't start the client separately because it's always running in the background. |
