Of course, I would prefer a consumption tax to an income tax, but one can't always get what one wants.

Hmm. Do you know any nations who tried that?
I know it have been discussed here but never being implemented because it's a political suicide.
One reason is because if you tax consumption the consumption will drop.
A lot of jobs will get lost.

The answer to your question is an emphatic yes. Refer to the column on the right of the table, listing VAT, GST and sales tax rates. Consumption taxes form part of the tax structure of many countries, including Sweden. In the United States, consumption taxes are levied at state and local level.

The answer to your question is an emphatic yes.

I was more like thinking that if any nation would try to skip income tax and rise the consumption tax instead.
And yes:) Sweden have a very high consumption tax, 25%.
But a lower corporate tax 22% than the US 35%.
Lowest income tax is about 30%.
Tax structures are VERY complex.

What's the charge?

Trump campaign ties to Russia and election interference?

Trump's son in law is being questioned about this now too.

"...The committee is looking into Russia's attempt to meddle in last year's presidential election, as well as possible ties between Russia and the Trump campaign."

General Jack D. Ripper: Mandrake, do you recall what Clemenceau once said about war?
Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: No, I don't think I do, sir, no.
General Jack D. Ripper: He said war was too important to be left to the generals. When he said that, 50 years ago, he might have been right. But today, war is too important to be left to politicians. They have neither the time, the training, nor the inclination for strategic thought. I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

MK 2 army men talking shop and 1 peeing father than the other to show he's the General , even thou he's been educated and lived under McCarthyism . Guess it sums up the Trump camp .

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

Tax on consumption, very regressive favoring the oligarchs. The lower end of the income scale spend all they earn and all that is taxed. The upper end dose not, hence not all is taxed. Therefore they pay a lower tax rate.
Under that plan Warren Buffet would still pay a lower tax rate than his secretary.

The Rich will, under any plan. Will still be Rich.

There is nothing wrong with that, what is wrong is that the middle and poor get poorer.

Yep, and that's just sad when the rich have not only what they need to live an extremely lavish lifestyle, but often have many many multiples of that amount, and instead of using that money to pay their employees better or hire more people or pay more in taxes to make the country great again, they use it for trips to mar a lago or play games with politics or just use it obtain even more money which is baffling to me..

greed. gotta love it.

[edit] If I were in charge there would be a cap on income. Who needs more than several hundred million dollars of income in a year?

Also correct under those Fraud Left Wing Leaders, who promise to make the rich pay more.

Not fraud, the rich could pay much more and still be rich. Read Thorstein Veblen and you might have an understanding about relative wealth. If you don't you are just spouting off about things you have little understanding of. Economics has never been your strong suit.
