After a few years absence, I have just come back to BOINC and SETI. I installed and set up several projects, including SETI. My computer finally started working on SETI units, but I got no credit. Other projects are working fine. I went to my account and "view tasks." It shows 205 errored out tasks. A cycle of messages there is: <core_client_version>7.6.33</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> too many boinc_temporary_exit()s </message> <stderr_txt> Running on device number: 0 Priority of worker thread raised successfully Priority of process adjusted successfully, below normal priority class used OpenCL platform detected: Intel(R) Corporation WARNING: BOINC supplied wrong platform! Just uncheck "Use Intel GPU" in SETI@home preferences (And of course check "Use CPU") Â ![]() ![]() Â |

Disabling the use of the Intel GPU is one option. Making sure it has the correct drivers, is another. Do not let Windows 10 install drivers for this GPU, but alweays install and update them from the Intel website only: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ This error WARNING: BOINC supplied wrong platform! happens when there's an inconsistency in the Intel GPU drivers. When you use Windows 10 installed drivers, these can lack parts that are required to run Seti correctly. Additionally, because the Intel GPU is built into the Intel CPU, using it can cause the CPU to overload. Setting BOINC to use all but one CPU core - via the Use at most N% of the CPUs, in your case set to 75% = 3 cores - can help alleviate the overload. |

Thanks for the advice, guys. I was going to update my GPU driver to one from Intel. But, the Intel utility says that my driver is proprietary from the computer manufacturer (HP), and that changing the driver may cause problems. I have changed preference settings. I didn't realize that all the GPU choices were checked. Now only my CPU and Intel Graphics card are checked. If this doesn't work, I'll disable the GPU. Thanks again! |

But, the Intel utility says that my driver is proprietary from the computer manufacturer (HP), and that changing the driver may cause problems. In that case, check through http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers for better drivers, and still don't allow Windows 10 to update them. |

I didn't realize that all the GPU choices were checked. That doesn't matter. If you don't have NVIDIA or ATI/AMD GPU BOINC will not ask for such tasks/applications. Now, with unchecked NVIDIA and ATI, you may see 'nag' Messages in Event Log that "tasks for NVIDIA are available but your Preferences are set to not accept them" (or similar wording) Â ![]() ![]() Â |
