I'm glad this SETI forum is here because it allows all of us to blog stuff, good, or bad. In spite of the posting rules you violate from time to time, you are among some kindred spirits, Mark.

I know that, Gordon. And that is why I share what I do.
We all need some support from time to time to guide us through this 'veil of tears'.
We all go through some difficult times in our lives.
I simply happen to be more vocal about mine than some others choose to be.
Nothing wrong with being private.
I simply choose the alternative.
And some may find my candor unnerving, because they are not able or are unwilling to do so themselves.

And that works for them. I simply have, in my life, 'taken the road less travelled'.
I have invited all to share it with me. Some have, many have not.

Had a very nice do-nothing relaxing day today.
Spent a lot of time cuddling with my two furbabies, Bandit and Purrball.
They sure do luv it when dad has the day off, nothing to do, and nowhere to go.
A special day with my special kitties.

I used to not like days like those. Now I consider them among the best... I don't take vacations so they are absolutely required to keep me from burning out.

I am hoping that I live long enough to retire and have many more days like today.
During the week, my work keeps me busy.
And on many weekends, life calls me away to attend to other things.
So, when I actually have a day off of work, look at the schedule, so to speak, and find I do not have any appointments I have to keep..........
Well, in this day and age, that IS special for me.
And I hope that you may find a few more of them for yourself.

Days.

Well, in this day and age, that IS special for me..

The older we get the quicker they seem to go.

Although there are special days (like a warm day in the country or on the beach with those we love) that seem still to linger forever.

They say it is a little maudlin to discuss our death or inevitable human weaknesses.

I say why not try to overcome - and if we can't - then try to live a life worthy of a good future.

Either that or eat loads of doughnuts and pray.

And I believe it is time for me to put in a couple of words again for my two favorite kitty non profits.

First would be, my own local shelter. Which I have donated to numerous times and visit when I can.
A fine, well kept and staffed shelter.
If things work out, and I can retire one day, I shall probably be a volunteer kitty companion at the shelter. The Fox Valley Humane Association.
It is always a joy to visit them, but also brings tears when I have to leave and think about all those loving kitties still in their little cages. (The shelter also, of course, cares for many dogs and a few other species from time to time, but of course you know where MY heart lies.) You are enticed to make a donation of any amount to help with their mission.

And the second would be another favorite of mine, Big Cat Rescue
These people are amazing in their support and understanding of the larger versions of my kitties.
These magnificent animals should never be kept as pets.
Although not perfect, at least at Big Cat Rescue, they have a chance to at least live out some semblance of their deserved lives.
I only wish they were close enough that I could visit the BIG kitties. That would be so wonderful to experience.
I have also donated to this organization.
And again, if you are so inclined, please join me in supporting them with a donation of your own.

Thank you, and meow.

I would donate Mark but you're in a diffent country , but i do donate to the local RSPCA and Cats Protection in the UK so will continue to do that . Just rather " help" the kittys in my country , i sent you em pics of May when we got her and now she's in full charge here " little madam " ;-) but wouldn't change the little munchkin for the world .

I wouldn't donate at all as cats are the biggest cause native species extinction here by several magnitudes over other introduced species that were brought here and they all need to be removed or exterminated pronto.

I'd compare them to the worst of environmental terrorists or I.S.I.L. myself.

If you want a loyal pet then get a dog.

Cheers.

Sorry Wiggo, I completely disagree with you.

But you don't live here Chris where they're nothing but an introduced predator. ;-)

Nothing you or anyone else can say that will change my mind on these natural assassins.

[edit] And the sooner that they are exterminated from this continent the better.

Cheers.

We'd be better off Chris as they ain't native at all to this continent and the destruction that they've caused here is irreversible.

Cheers.

Cats are also the biggest predator of the Red Squirrels here on the island.

Whilst I wouldn't call for their extermination here, I would like to see awareness raised so people who live near the largest habitats are aware of the problem.

Dogs also cause problems but they are (mostly) under control.

As much as we like to believe we are in charge of cats they turn feral at the sight of prey.

That's definatly true Bernie ( being in charge of them ) , humans can't control cats , Our cat had to be put down last year ( she had reached 16 years and kindest thing was to " let her go peacefully " ) .
Lucy ( the cat) ruled this house along with her brother " Pipsweek" and same with the two cats before them .
May ( our cat from the RSPCA )" rules the roost" here she will let you fuss her but when she's had enough and you keep going she WILL draw blood .

Dogs you throw a stick and the wooflehound will run and bring the stick back to you , with a cat do the same thing and they WILL look at you saying " if you want that stick go get it yourself , coz i'm not / if you want it why did you throw it away stupid "

People have different feelings about animals but i promise you one thing May's part of my family and if you hurt any member of my family " may your god take pity on you , coz i won't " and sure a lot of pet owners feel the same way about their pets as i do

All pets are " ferral" (to some extent ) and those insticts will always be there
.
