lf you have the stomach to watch a true piece of sickening history, the kitties highly recommend you watch the highly underrated and underappreciated movie "Minamata". Headlined by Johnny Depp, this is the true story of a chemical company that caused thousands of casualties and injuries, tried to cover it up, buy off those affected, and harassed the photojournalist who took pictures of things that they did not want publicized. They dubbed it "Minamata Disease".

The story of a small fishing town in Japan that suffered absolutely devastating losses of life and livability at the hands of a Japanese chemical company that knowingly dumped mercury laden chemical waste into their waters. The fish from those waters was their main source of food. And the government and police forces were also implicit in the suppression of the truth. For more than three decades, the government and Chisso Corporation did little to prevent the pollution.

Even though they were aware of the mercury problem since as early as about 1956, Chisso still dumped their waste into the bay. They continued to do this until about 1968, dumping an estimated 27 TONS of mercury into the bay. In spring of 2013, they finally started to pay up.
Litigation on the issue continued until at least 2014.

The real life photographer, W. Eugene Smith, was attacked and suffered severe injuries at the hands of Chisso employees in January of 1972. He passed from a stroke (his second) in October of 1978.

Watching the movie "Hotel Artemis".
Good movie.
One of the best single lines.......
"He lives in Florida, life took him out already,"

The high point of the movie is somebody I have been attracted to for years.
Her name is Sofia Boutella.
You might remember her as the wicked mummy from the movie "The Mummy".
A most beautiful woman. One of God's greatest creations.

Ever watch the movie 'Nobody'?
It was all about the kitty cat bracelet.........
Until it wasn't.
Bob Odenkirk has been a favorite of mine since his 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul' days.

Watching a movie tonight. "The Island".
Totally involving.
Totally futuristic.
And in not too many years,
Totally all too possible.
Any damage necessary to preserve their sordid secret.

More movie tips and hints from the kittyman...................

First of all, the worst waste of time and viewing trouble.............Paranormal Activities.
This bit of tripe could have been, and most likely was, crafted (and I use that term very loosely) by a couple of degenerates with a stolen iphone camera and nothing left to lose.
I spurred myself to continue watching minute after nauseating minute of this POS, hoping that there would be some moment of redeeming value in doing so.
There was none. It gave the "horror" gender a very bad taste.

Prior to that waste of time, I had watched "Heat", a fine movie starring Al Pacino and Robert deNiro.
Highly recommended by the kitty viewing crew.

Now I am watching "The Langoliers", a very good old flick. As many flicks of it's genre are, based on a Stephen King novel.

Thanks Mark - you have successfully added another "film" to my "never watch" list. Your services to humanity are much appreciated.

Watched the movie Becky, and am rewatching the Wrath of Becky. As far as I can find, the sequel is only available for 3 or 4 dollars on some pay to view services. YMMV.
These are somewhat campy gore laced movies, so if this offends thee, do not go there.

On the other hand, if you can tolerate a little blood and guts, and really like it when the bad guys get what they have coming, by all means indulge.

As the grist mill has it, there is a 3rd and supposedly final episode soon to be in production.
The true value of the key which Becky has in her possession has not been revealed just yet. Only that the evil people desperately want to get it.

Moral of the story so far is.............. don't ever get on the bad side of a young teenager who wants revenge. And she is very good at it. You go, girl.
And bye the way, she wants her dog back.

Interesting note..............

Did you realize that the scene in Mission Impossible:Final Reckoning, where Tom Cruise is trying to get out of the submarine and the sub shifts and the missiles fall all over and block the door that was his exit out..............

Almost the identical scene occurs in the 1997 James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies. Including the part about not being able to fit down a torpedo tube with the breathing backpack on. Except in this case, it was a navy ship instead of a submarine.

Some plots don't die, they just get recycled.

That's nothing. Try watching Big Hero 6. I call it the rip off movie. There is no shame about stealing plot elements from every movie they can. Star Trek, Bubblegum Crisis, The Terminator and more. They do get creative with the theft.

Been rewatching all of the old James Bond movies.
One of note, and one of my favorites, is Moonraker.
The special effects are most notable for their time, I mean, this movie was produced back in 1979, some 46 YEARS ago, and I have to give special recognition to Richard Kiel. Known as Jaws in the movie. Who eventually becomes a 'good' guy.
Richard was over 7 foot tall in real life, and his contribution to the movie could not have been greater.
Due to a congenital condition that accelerated his growth, his life was also cut short.
Rest in peace, Richard, and thank you for your contribution to the Bond legend.

Richard was certainly one of the best of the villains' henchmen in any Bond film, reaching new heights in Mooraker, indeed heights never surpassed by Bond.

Moonraker is probably my favorite Bond movie and like you said, the special effects are something else considering when it was made.

The scene that I will always remember is when "Jaws" opened his mouth and smiled we saw his silvery looking shiney teeth!

Well, this is not exactly a review, but a rant, I guess.

I am talking about all of those new, heavily advertised "flushable" wipes that are being foisted upon us these days.
"Dude wipes" with their sickening innuendo based advertising campaign and many similar items, both for men and women.
Not unlike the assault of big pharma advertising trying to convince as many gullible people in the country as possible that "you absolutely should be on our drugs".

First of all, I can cleanse myself perfectly well by using traditional toilet paper, and if I can't, a quick dip in the tub will do the trick.
And secondly, every single utility will tell you that this stuff is NOT flushable, and to keep it out of the sewer systems at all costs. It wreaks havok on the sewage processing systems.

Advertising in this country simply has to be reigned in. It is out of control. Big pharma in particular and first on the list. Too much of their money has bought them too much influence in our government.

If I were in power, I would make Trump look like a eunuch in comparison. And not as a dictator, just a man with some common sense of reality and not in a position to be bought off by anybody.

Rant over. I just had to get this out of my system. No pun intended.

Meow.

Ya. You did or did not think of them as "Adult baby wipes". I agree toilet paper works just as well and cheaper. If I want my behind scented with a whatever fragrance. A shower with soap and water will do. Sorry for the rant.

Watching the movie "American Ganster".
Starring one of my favorites, Denzel Washington.

I usually prefer him portraying a good guy rather than a bad one, but his acting is most enjoyable nonetheless.
But what I really enjoy about most of these old movies is watching the old cars roll by.
How they get that much old machinery on set is always amazing to me.

Meow,
Mark
