Great summary of Gregg Walace, who was a barrow boy in and around the East London markets.

Watched a couple of good movies tonight.
First was a entertaining kinda spoof of action movies called Nobody.
Starring Bob Odenkirk, who I came to like very much from his stint in the Breaking Bad series, it was kind of like John Wick meets Mel Brooks towards the end.
An action flick with it's tongue in it's cheek. The ending fight is most amusing, and the music throughout is excellent.

Then I watched Salt, starring the always excellent Angelina Jolie. Loved her since she starred in Hackers, also a good movie.
This one is more of a serious action/suspense movie, and Angelina does an excellent job.

Both get the "kitty tested, kitty approved" seal of approval.

Agreed with the John Wick and Mel Brooks idea. The Nobody 2 trailers follow that theme also.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on that one!
Just watched the Nobody 2 official trailer. Did not know that it was already out.
Laughed myself silly. Can't wait until it is available streaming.
Especially appreciated the use of Lindsey Buckingham's song Holiday Road, which he originally wrote and performed for the movie National Lampoon's Vacation.
And, as usual, Bob Odenkirk is just a hoot.
MeowLOL.

And then there's this.
War Of The Worlds. 2025 version.
Starting off with a very fast paced version of what is most probably true in this day and age of computer sophistication.
What our government can and probably is doing every day.
As in many movies, it only takes one rogue, mentally deranged individual to wreak havoc upon many.
The government controls all..........until they suddenly don't.
It is another version of 1984. Except in this case, it all goes wrong for mankind. Kind of a modern day version of Hackers. And an unapologetic Amazon commercial.

I have to make a point here.
The guy's son is an Amazon delivery driver. There has never been a more blatant case of self serving aggrandizement than occurs here. Just have to pre-anticipate what is going on. It's like the Coke bottle placed into significant places in some movies we have all watched.

Most of the movie relies on your 'suspension of disbelief'. I mean, if the whole world's computer systems go down, how does the protagonist's computer still run and continue to feed him any data? Is his the only computer on the planet that still has access to servers when everything else has been taken down?? I mean, it's really a LOL moment if you stop to think about it.

I know, or at least believe, that the US government keeps tabs on all of us. I know and accept that, since 9/11, surveillance has become part and parcel of being an American. Not saying that it is right, but I have to breath a heavy sigh and accept it.........as part an parcel of being an American.

Your review caught my interest, but when I went to look for it, I found this blow-by-blow summary. Now I don't think I need to watch it. Knowing the story and all of the plot twists, is it worth the time?

Depends on what you think your time is worth, Carlos.
The kitties surely wouldn't rate is as a must see piece of entertainment.

The really sickening part of 'entertainment' these days is that you not only pay for the entertainment, but you also pay for being 'entertained'.
Which means having commercials thrust at you at any available moment.
I mean, even when you simply hit the pause button, an ad pops up trying to sell you something that you have no interest in whatsoever.
Which is really irritating if you pause the show to look at something in particular to inspect and have an ad thrust up your ass instead. Especially when I have already paid for the movie service to begin with. And then, just to really stick it to you, they have a button that pops up to say 'go ad free', which means they want to extort even more money from you.
It's really rather sickening.
I would not be shocked if one day, there would be some ads here on the Seti forums that popped up with every post made.

The kitties are currently watching a series show called 'Ballard'.
Cop/crime/detective show. Somehow attached to an old show called Bosch.
And Harry Bosch already did a short cameo appearance in this one.

Currently watching "Heads Of State".
An attempt at comedy that just is lacking.
But the most amazing thing is that at about 43 minutes into the movie, the soundtrack cuts to a song that I have not heard in a very long time.
Dave Van Ronk's version of "Hang Me".
An amazing artist and one of his very best songs.
I have a copy of that album on vinyl.
If I live long enough, we shall be talking a lot about vinyl in the future.

And now, one of my favorite movies of all time.
Payback, starring Mel Gibson.
There is nothing better.

Watching the 'Reacher' series.. (Most recent, the 2022 version.)
Now, this big lug (Alan Ritchson), certainly is no Tom Cruise, and he can't spew out excellent one-liners with a twinkle in his eye the way that Tom can. And of course, they took what is usually accomplished in a single movie and stretched it into a television series.
But he at least comes across as somebody who can usually win the big fist fights, and the result is believable enough to keep me interested for now.

Meow,
Mark

I enjoyed Reacher, too. I remember parts of that from a few years ago.
I watched something that might interest you. It's called "The WOW Signal – A Mysterious Message from Space". I don't agree with all of it, but it did help me to fall asleep. I think I will try again later today. It was late when I started it last night.

Finished season 3 of Reacher.
Good news is, most of the correct people got shot.
Which reminds me of an old wisely spoken quote by Clint Eastwood, playing Dirty Harry.........
"There's nothing wrong with shooting, as long as the right people get shot."

And the better news is, I understand that there will be a season 4.

Moving forward from Reacher, I am now watching a series "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan".
A similar detective novel derived series.
You have to love the writers from who's novels these shows are the basis of.
And I always enjoy a show where the bad guy, even if it takes a while, eventually gets what is truly coming to him.
Gotta love it when the bad guy dies.

I am sure this series will not disappoint.

Meow,
Mark

Try watching Blake’s 7 if you can stand it. If not I understand. Older British space action show. And spoiler. I bad guys win.

Thank you for the link, Carlos.
I had seen 6EQUJ5 on that printout before, but had never run across what it really meant.
Sad that Green Bank had to fall to the greed of some land developers.
And even though we never found anything, I am proud of what I contributed to the Seti project here.

Ya know, some things just bother me.
Like this Infinity commercial that I saw earlier today.
It shows their vehicle ready to take off like a space ship and you know how the rest of it goes.
The problem that I had was that is shows the door handles of the car retract to flush when the car takes off.
Now, I really don't know if they actually do that, but if they do, I wonder if the engineers actually calculated what the cost of adding the weight of those actuators to that car really affected it's overall fuel impact over the life of the car.
All just to be an advertising point.
Sorry, these things just go through my mind sometimes.

Meow,
Mark

Retracting door handles are a double edge sword (or maybe even a triple edge one?).
They improve the aerodynamics
But they add weight (as you suggest)
And they add complexity (which equals cost) to the design.

Which one wins out? Who knows on the weight vs aerodynamics debate, but the motorist looses out on the cost....

(Oh, and they are a real pain if the actuator fails)

Watching the last 3 episodes of the last season of Jack Ryan.
You know you are getting near the climax of the show when the commercial interruptions start to ramp up.
And get longer and longer.............
