How they get that much old machinery on set is always amazing to me.

No salt on California roads.
That was my imagination of California until somebody here told about this famous mountain pass in California.

Old cars can be preserved and stored somewhere if somebody believes it can be profitable.

But what's really hard for today's movie directors is to find suitable street locations which look authentic, to represent an era which is long since gone. Yes, you can do that in studios... but a well made movie also features natural lights, large panoramic scenes. I'm really amazed if I see that perfectly done in nowadays movies.

Finally I have found a movie that the kitties can give a full 5 paws recommendation for.

The Vault, 2021.
And do not confuse this with another movie, also titled The Vault, dated 2017.

Very well done, and loads of excitement throughout.

Kitty tested, fully kitty approved.

Enjoy.

Let me warn you..............
The 2017 movie of the same name is not at all of the same entertainment value.

From the get-go, it consists of a bunch of low life a**hole *unts that don't care who or how much they hurt others.
Not on the same level at all.

Meow.

I just had a thought....
Use the "Happy Kitty Scale", say -5 to +5, minus numbers indicating that the Kitties are unpleased with the film and positive numbers indicating increasingly happy to watch the film (+5 being "we'd watch his film all day").

Just an idea.

Mark, thanks for sharing your story. I find myself just having to go numb to get through my week. I am an introvert by nature. But this week I had to confront the Pentagon, two Indian tribes, and a County about putting transmission lines through their land. I just put on my lawyer hat and ignore my internal dialog. Hope the haircut came out ok. I have to wait to see if my offers are accepted.

Good luck Carlos. Indians can get very NIMBY about their land access.

We have offered them more than I think they were expecting. The tribal chairman is pushing to get approval or our offer.

Ya know................
I have been increasingly vexed by trying to find movies worth watching.
Amazon Prime has become increasingly mired in their own greed.
I pay for Prime membership, pay another fee for tossing commercials, and that fee is taking another big jump the first of April with some bogus promises of additional benefits which amount to nothing. We suckered you, now the price is gonna go up. And lately, most of the things I might wish to watch are all pay to freaking view. I might just dump it.

But. The point I came to make really, is this..............
I am currently watching the movie Airport, from 1970. And, although it is an older movie, I am finding it immensely more enjoyable to watch than most of the tripe currently available. And that is not due to outstanding production, special effects or an incredibly obtuse plot. And then it came to me..............
The reason it is so enjoyable is because of the ACTORS. I mean, people who really know how and are able to ACT.
Without becoming so transparently fake that they are obviously inept at at.
Many of the movies produced in the last few years are just so exceptionally bad that one finds it hard to believe that anybody spent the money to produce them. And some of them include actors that used to be able to ply their craft very well.

OK. The kittyman has had his say and made his point. You are welcome to take it or leave it.

Meow,
Mark

Understood. I have the “Airport Terminal Pack” on DVD. So I can watch without getting the finger with ads.

It has Airport (1970), Airport 1975, Airport '77, and Airport '79.

A perfect explanation of why I so rarely even think about going to a cinema or watch a streamed video.

I have a membership with a local theater chain. As a senior, I get free movie Tuesdays. I think I have only gone to one this year.

The kitties finally found a movie that they are happy to give a loud meowing recommendation for.
It's brand new, titled Crime101.
There is hardly a bit of fluff in this movie, and the cast is stellar.
Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Halle Berry, and even a bit part by Nick Nolte.
90 million dollar budget, and so far has done about 72 million at the box office.
It's a long movie, some 140 minutes, but it moves along at a fairly good pace throughout.
Some longer movies find themselves plodding along half way through, but not this one.
Not hardly a scene where you find yourself wondering when it will end.
I watched it on Amazon Prime, not sure if it is available elsewhere.
The kitties give it a 10 toe rating.
Kitty tested, and very, very kitty approved!

Meow!

So glad The Kitties have found a film that they really enjoy :-)

(As an aside - What do The Kitties think about the old Tom & Jerry cartoons - Despite not being a cat lover I always feel that Tom gets somewhat short-changed)
