Feb 22 I put a new cruncher on line, it has a GT 730, for the time being. I decided to run stock apps to see what the project would choose for the card. As expected I was sent Cuda 42, 50 and open CL apps. I am still getting a mix of tasks. My question is when will Seti make up its mind and settle on a specific type of task?

IIRC it won't even attempt until it has 10 results* from each. Then it has data to make a pick. However IIRC it still will get others from time to time just in case something has changed on your end.

*I'm not sure if those results have to validate or not - er not validation pending, either good or bad.

Since the box runs 24/7 I'm well over 10 of each.

And with the lack of GBT work ATM it'll likely pick the Cuda 50 app for you while you'll also be held back by the stock CPU apps.

Cheers.

It has to be 10 results for each app, and the tasks have to be within a defined AR (I think centred on 0.42 deg) If this is so then it rules out all BLC work, VLAR, VHAR, and a good proportion of "normal" units.

. . Have you ruled out using the Lunatics installer? For Arecibo tasks CUDA50 is best as Wiggo says, but for guppis SoG is best. Looking at your run times I am assuming your GT730 has DDR3 ram, am I right?

That is correct but the point is now moot it is now crunching Einstein. For the time being Seti only is getting my 3 CPUs.
