Mods forgive if this is the wrong place

So on the FB's Seti@home page a video was posted by a member showing a rare look at China's 500 Meter Telescope.

https://www.facebook.com/100000058608536/videos/pcb.1597332933611978/1597329006945704/?type=3&theater

For those without FB, I'll see if I can get the member to post to Youtube.

can anyone translate the part about SETI related activities? seems like it wasn't really addressed, though. like whether they are going to allow piggybacking or dedicated use.

Here is the youtube address for any that don't have a facebook account to view the video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJxT1FkfHWU&feature=youtu.be

I remember sometime back it was suggested that Seti might get some data from them but there has never been any official word. More of a wait and see I believe.

Great video. Thanks for posting. Still hard to get a grip on the size of that thing; I'd love to see it in person!

Hello

Last I heard was 2022 at the least (calibrating will take a few years to start with).

Cheers.

I doubt it - this is a deep space dish, lacking the mobility required for Solar system observations
