LOL. Those 2 golden rules :-) If wu's guaranteed 24/7 & if project can cope 24/7 with the many dedicated crunchers 24/7 - then yes I would like answers. Until those golden rules disappear :-) |

LOL. And there's more chance of that happening than the " mods dropping their left wing leanings " , bet this gets RED X'ed but it's the truth Seti@home will NEVER have all the money they would like (same for time , equiptment and staff hours ) and it's a bit funny people who are moaning DON'T seam to have a " star " only making a " observation" ;-) Life is what you make of it :-) When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-) |

I see you've been answering some of my comments, but yet have to see anyone answering this: . . For me it is because it was the one question you posed that I really did not understand. And I still cannot fathom your intent. . . Do you mean what is the main purpose of Seti with respect of WU's? Or what is the policy about WUs and their processing? Stephen ? |

we have to do with the seti@home limits of 100wu / CPU /GPU . . That sounds like a logistic nightmare to me :) Stephen :) |

LOL. . . Actually I think I can help you by recommending a good optometrist. There seem to be plenty of green stars spread throughout this message thread, amongst most parties regardless of the side they are on. Stephen ? |

And there's more chance of that happening than the " mods dropping their left wing leanings " More for the benefit/information of others, as I've already indicated (OK, well... I tried!) but a lot of that may be due to the forum policies that we are required to enforce. We may or may not agree with them all, but there they are, and they are there for good intentions of keeping this a respectful and pleasant place. And I'll refrain from any further comment as we don't want to stray into politics or discussion of moderator actions, do we? :^) |

. . That sounds like a logistic nightmare to me :) There is an easy way to do that, without the need to separate the host. Just run several instances of boinc on the host, each instance still have it´s 100 WU GPU/CPU limit of course but if you run 3 instances for example the number of total WU will be 3x. Just remember nothing forces you to run only 3... you just need to know how to manage the work flow. If you have one of the seti top hosts who is realy afected by the 100 WU limit, sure you are an advanced user, it´s easy to do that for you. That will fix the WU shortage problem during most of the outages, even those who take an entire day. For those who not remember the 100WU limit was put in place to protect the data base so it´s very unlikely somebody will change that. And sure makes no sense to rise the limit just for few hungry super crunchers hosts. or....... Do like many others, choose a backup project and continue to crunch and to be happy during the seti outages. My 2 cents. |

What is noticeable as well is that often the most vociferous are the ones with a minimal RAC. There is an old adage that empty vessels make the most noise. Charles Long rarely posted but got on with crunching, just who was it that was the most vociferous in that case? I can recall a very vociferous person screaming b*****y blue murder about restricting such people from crunching. Was that because Mr Long blew them out of the water by any chance? What was his tally? Wasn't it a billion cobblestones achieved in such a short time compared to many spending years accumulating theirs? |

How many hours does it take for a GTX 1080 to go trough the 100WU limit? Roughly 6-7 hours on my machines that run 1080s (and 980s) at 3 WUs/Gpu |

How many hours does it take for a GTX 1080 to go trough the 100WU limit? Around 7 hours (less than 5, over 9 depending on the work mix) for my GTX 1070s running 1WU at a time. Grant Darwin NT |

You missed all of the fights and (intoxicated) slurs over on the BOINC forums. Well, or not, of course. :) |
