Message 1931951 - Posted: 26 Apr 2018, 3:20:21 UTC - in response to Message 1931919.

Since no one else seems to want to come up with a number ...
2004 data from BJS and Census
1,079,000 convictions per year / 292,810,000 population = 0.368498343635805%
cops data from WP article and a poster here
1100 convictions per year / 765,000 cops = 0.143790849673203%

So for every 5 MS-13 members -- excuse the Rumpism -- there are 2 dirty cops.

And it must be pointed out, those are cops so dirty they got convicted, not just given a suspension or fired. If those numbers were put in, it would not surprise me to see the rate the same or higher than for the general public.

The people and institutions need to get over this idea that cops by and large aren't corrupt. They are just as corrupt as everyone else.

How about some here learn to read English?
Thank God that over 99.9999% of Law Enforcement aren't mass murdering rapists.
That doesn't mean that 99.9999% of Law Enforcement is criminal!
They who are mass murdering rapists are very criminal though.
Perhaps 0.0001% of them are.
Anyone having an idea how many they are?

.14% of 765,000 = 107,100. Not the 1100 referenced.

Appears that more than one poster has a problem with decimals :)

Clyde,

I agree with a substantial amount of what you say.

But, please... Stop arguing this arithmetic. You are... not correct.

Given the quantity 765,000:

0.14 of it is 107,100

14% of it is 107,100

0.14% of it is 1071.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

PS I also find it odd that my intentional misplacement of a decimal hasn't had a comment yet, unless everyone realized it was facetious on purpose.

Someone may have a reading comprehension issue though ...

Therefore...

1100 convicted Criminal Cops, out of a total of perhaps 765,000.

Is an indication that the vast majority are criminals?

Just look back at these threads and see how many police were not convicted and how many didn't loose their jobs. And if they did were re-instated because of Union action or got another police in another city. Fired, Rehired
That the majority of decent people consider they have committed a crime but their bosses say they were following the guides given in training. If the training was such that most of us consider it a crime, why haven't the police chiefs and trainers or the people responsible for the rules and guidelines been brought before the courts.

And No, the majority are not criminals.

That is a very good question as to why unconstitutional orders aren't criminally convicted.

IIRC there is research that shows the vast majority of humans have committed a criminal act at some point in their lives. Cops are human, therefore no different.

What serious crimes have you committed?

Nope.

Are you seriously denying having clearly added the word "serious" where it wasn't present before? Really?

Defintions;
criminal, noun - A person who has committed a crime.
crime, noun - An action or omission which constitutes an offence and is punishable by law.

Therefore if a person has committed any offence they are a criminal.
And that will include everyone who is over the age of criminal responsibility.

Don't give a shyte about any yankee laws, especially when a dfy posts this:
Therefore, there is a possibility that you, everyone in these forums and most of human race have committed some Violation of the thousands, upon thousands, upon thousands of Laws. May all be criminals.
which led to my post.

So for once you have to agree with Gary that, based on your assumption of course, that all coppers at one time or another were criminals. That defeats any argument you can throw up for the simple reason is that you post without thinking.

Unless you are saying that coppers are not part of the human race.

But I know how to win an argument against an ascertain that most, or perhaps all humans could be considered criminals.
Considering that you are the one who suggested that, anyone can win an argument...

...against themselves :-)
