"@realdonaldtrump @barackobama didn't have the guts to ___. You're a winner, you can do it!"

Fill in the blank with something Obama didn't do that we can goad Trump into.

I'll tweet it to him.

(We could act like Obama didn't release his taxes and trick him into supposedly one-upping Obama!)

Obama didn't have the guts to enact a progressive 90% top tax rate.

I can think of a few things... Things Obama campaigned on back in 2008 that he didn't do once he was elected...

1. Close the terrorist 'prison'/ POW camp at Guantanamo. It is still open.
2. Get us out of foreign wars. Obama got us into a few more.
3. Overhaul the corporate tax code by reducing rates for domestic manufacturers. Didn't happen.
4, Posting online the text of all bills for a period of time (a few days) to give the public a chance to comment *before* they are signed. Didn't happen.

There are a great many more, these are just a few.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Obama didn't have the guts to enact a progressive 90% top tax rate.

Oh, please... JFK (A Democrat for those of you that do not remember him) got rid of that and it was a GOOD thing.

In 1962, speaking at the Economic Club of New York, Kennedy said he was committed to "an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in personal and corporate income taxes." The tax system, mostly designed during World War II, "exerts too heavy a drag on growth in peace time; that it siphons out of the private economy too large a share of personal and business purchasing power; that it reduces the financial incentives for personal effort, investment, and risk-taking," he said.

Many lawmakers worried that reducing taxes without cutting spending would create unacceptable budget deficits. But Kennedy, who famously noted that "a rising tide lifts all boats," insisted tax cuts would generate broad-based growth

Top income tax rate was lowered from 91% down to 70%. Budget deficits DID shrink. Unemployement fell to 3.8%. Stock prices doubled. Inflation remained stable. Good times.

Not on-topic.

Since MK's post regarding tax rates is apparently on-topic.

So is my tax rate post question, responding to his post, on-topic.

His original suggestion of a tweet to Trump is, as was Gary's.
His latter was not.
I chose not to tweet Trump regarding taxes, given the opposing views.
I chose not to ask MK, at the time, to stick to topic because it was a single post. Now that there are two posts about it:

As Trump appears to have a need to do "better" than others, this will in particular include better than 44, it is incumbent on US, the PEOPLE, to let him know WHAT we want him to do better on. It would also help if it were more than just me tweeting to him.

"But liberals say conservatives' interpretation is misleading because conditions were so different in the early 1960s, when the top marginal tax rate was 91 percent. The Kennedy-backed tax cuts took down that rate to 70 percent. Today, the highest rate is 39.6 percent. Cutting the top tax bracket now would not have the same impact because it already has been lowered several times, the argument goes.

"You can only go to the well so many times before you lose effectiveness," says David Shreve, an economic historian who has written about the Kennedy-era tax cuts."

With taxes as low as they are for the very wealthy these days, something has to give. I would think logically the solution has to be somewhere in the middle of what we have today, and what we had back then.

Logic doesn't apply in today's political climate.
