Just finished Stanislaw Lem - The Cyberiad: Fables for the Cybernetic Age.I’m just curious to know if this English translation of an 1960s Lem novel also contained an introductory contextualization of the plot within a communist worldview… just on the first couple of pages. I know this, for example, from the East German translation of „Der Unbesiegbare" („The Invincible“). After that, the remaining pages contained a magnificent science fiction story without propaganda... as if the state censors in the (then) People's Republic of Poland had to be flattered so that the book could be published. |

Just finished Stanislaw Lem - The Cyberiad: Fables for the Cybernetic Age.I’m just curious to know if this English translation of an 1960s Lem novel also contained an introductory contextualization of the plot within a communist worldview… just on the first couple of pages. I actually read a Finnish translation of the book, it has been translated from the English version and published in 1986. The Finnish version didn't contain that kind of introductory.
