"Zealot. The life and times of Jesus of Nazareth", Random House, 2013 by Reza Aslan. Aslan is an Iranian who fled with his family to America in Khomeini times, and although of Islamic faith became interested in the figure of Jesus of Nazareth and wrote a book about his historical life. It is not a Theology book, like those of Pope Ratzinger. Tullio |

I have reread "Contact" by Carl Sagan. It was written in 1985. One should confront it with a recent book by physicist Carlo Rovelli, who says that there is no a universal time but each of us has his personal time. The book's title is "The order of Time". The story, told by Sagan, of a Machine built on instructions sent by someone in the Vega system, about 26 light years away, which carries five people to that system through a wormhole. They stay there for about one day, meeting dead relatives, and when they come back via the same Machine and return to Earth the time passed on Earth is about 20 minutes, so they are not believed. There was a movie based on a Sagan script which he turned into the book, and the chapter of Ellie Arroway is modeled on Jill Tarter of the SETi Institute. I have not seen the movie and cannot remember the name of the actress playing the main role. The movie name should be "Cosmic connection" as far as I know. Tullio |

I finally finished David Eddings' series "The Tamuli" last night (yes I'm still busy with other things ATM) and I've just returned from my library with my other 5 books of his so I'll be reading "The Redemption of Althalus" next. With the way the weather has turned here lately it looks like I'll get a bit more reading in as it isn't very nice outside to do anything. Cheers. |
