I forget. Maybe it wasn't very memorable.

I finished a series called "Schooled in Magic" which runs to 17 odd novels. Costing $2-3USD,
by Chris Nuttell

Its not "great" but it is like the "coming of age" series in magic and Andre Norton wrote many years ago.

Now that I've finished with Tad Williams I've decided to attack Terry Goodkind's "The Sword of Truth" series.

Cheers.

Another in a series of books by JN Chaney, "Resident Son".
Just finished reading another one of his, "Ruins of the Galaxy", and re-read the entire "Renegade" series (all 11 of them) in less than a week, expecting the next in the series (#12) to come out sometime this coming weekend.
I'll probably have that one read in full by late next week.

I think the next Recluse novel (Modesitt) is about to ship on Kindle at least.

The latest Liad (Sharon Lee/Steve Miller) is currently in hard back only.

I've just started John Le Carrie's autobography. His life looks as if it had more twists and turns than his books.

I am re-reading the "Kris Longknife" series by Mike Shepherd He has written more of it that I don't own (yet).

Strong women characters in Military SF. Realistic physics and engineering. Smart-metal. Preexisting gateways from a "Forerunner" race to take care of the science of interstellar travel.

Lots of intrigue, violence is tasteful rather than graphic.

"Tasteful violence" is a term I thought I'd never hear. Can any violence really be tasteful?

(I understand what you meant, Tom.)

Graphic violence shows all the blood and gore of getting shot, die-ing etc. And seems to dwell on it.

Tasteful violence doesn't dwell on it.

The oldest trick is to lead right up to the incident but don't depict that actual details.... and show limited aftermath.

As a fan of well written Military SF I like the action and enough of the consequences to remember people are die-ing. But I don't like graphic depiction of the violence.

Like the old b&w westerns on TV. The guys got shot and died, but there was no blood or drama.
