Two books on economics both of which I have read > once: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dr-Strangeloves-Game-History-Economic/dp/0140299866 and https://www.amazon.co.uk/False-Economy-Surprising-Economic-History/dp/0141033703/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1505998538&sr=1-1&keywords=false+economy Both these books are about economic history - the former more about the economists themselves but a nice change from physics when you need one |

Finally finished my history of the Rio Grande Railroad (published in 1962, so there were 34 more years not covered). I suspect most of the interesting stuff happened before 1962. ;-) ~Sue~ |

Last week saw the usual collection of "junk" reading as I was out of the country. I think it was three books and a short story. Only the short story stuck in my mind - Ian Rankin's "The Traveling Companion" which is an interesting take on a student's life in Paris and his encounter with a missing Stevenson text, so to start, accelerates in some strange directions and end up as "edge of the seat" by the last of its very few pages. It's actually one of a series of short stories by a number of crime writers so i might see if I can find the whole set. One Piece Manga(a Japanese Comicbook, online, translated to English) Reading there for anyone who doesn't know, is from Right to left, and sometimes Top to Bottom. I'm in the part where the ship is the Thousand Sunny, beyond that and the mysterious Poneglyphs, it's well done. I also read the manga known as The Nobelesse, there's one that deals with Mecha, It's Broken Blade or Break Blade, and Rygart Arrow(the Blond haired dude) who can't use ordinary mechs, so the hero uses an ancient mech that doesn't use crystal magic, both are quite good too... Note: Manga like Break Blade has some near nudity, but that's as far as they go in that direction, like a woman in chains who has been captured, and that's all She's wearing on one page. Source code. I'm reading the source code. The source code written in C++ and CUDA. I do not know why, but it is rather captivating. Petri To overcome Heisenbergs: "You can't always get what you want / but if you try sometimes you just might find / you get what you need." -- Rolling Stones |
