Well, I got's my W2 and my Turbo Tax email.
Now, just to find the ambition and I should be able to reclaim a tad bit of what was withheld from me last year.
These days, I don't have a lot of exemptions, so they generally end up keeping most of what they took so they can hand it out to illegal aliens and such at their discretion. Or chuck it over to the Palestinians against congressional approval.

But I usually get a few hundred back to pay for a month's worth of Seti crunching or so.

If only I could finagle a way to claim the kitties as dependents.....I mean, they ARE, aren't they???? I'd be doing a lot better if I could deduct those kibble and litter bills.

If you don't buy health insurance, you die in debt upon contracting disease.
I can live or die with that.
In most cases, having health insurance will not do a damned thing if you get a terminal disease, other than to enrich the insurance company upon your death.
They will fight tooth and nail to pay out anything that will prolong you life if they are able to.

But that is no different to all insurances/assurances Mark. They automatically try to pay out the minimum to maximise profits to institutional shareholders. The biggest rip off is car insurance. Write off you car and you will only get-trade in value for it. But you then have to make up the difference to buy a replacement similar car at forecourt prices.

The whole point of insurance is to recompense you so that you are no worse off afterwards - Hah! Pigs might fly!

Have a fire in you house and your contents policy will only pay what the goods were worth second hand at the time. You have to buy new to replace them. Yes you can get new for old policies, but you pay a hefty premium.

I can't comment upon health insurance or Obama care because we have a NHS here in the UK. The prices per month of BUPA to go private are astronomical, but senior executives get that cover for themselves and their families as part of a negotiated job package.

You never see a poor insurance broker, we are all on the wrong side of the fence!

I would prefer to say that they are a necessary evil. The old phrase use to be "Would you let your daughter marry a ........." (fill in as required). These days a lawyer or Solicitor would be a good choice, at least she wouldn't have to worry too much about money and a roof over her head. What the Husband did for a living might be detestable to many people, but it pays the bills.

I pay the bills.
But I do not do it by prostituting myself to the legal system.

You obviously worked for the wrong people. I couldn't with any imagination, describe myself as a senior executive. But I got it included as did all my colleagues. Had sinuses unblocked and back at work 10 days later instead of minimum NHS wait time of 6 months.

Probably did!!! it was an ex public utility, so pretty basic, but the pension scheme is good being government backed and index linked.

I've got one of those (military + NATO civilian [read civil servant]) and also one from that last employer, linked to company salaries plus the state one.

Good thing Trump's policies will result in a balanced budget, reduced taxes, and dropping deficit.

As far as taxes? Seems my employer withholds twice as much as they should from me every damn year. I usually get back 50% of what I pay in. Long story short, I have filed zee taxes two days ago.

Form K doesn't have to be mailed to you until April 15! Try doing your taxes before you have all the information to fill out the forms!

Why not do most of it as you receive and make payments, while it is still fresh in your mind. It only takes a few minutes and is not difficult.
Leaving it all until the last minute only causes headaches and errors** in my experience.

That's right. Because the IRA write off changes your AGI lower, you might find yourself owing Obama Tax because of the way the premium credits work.

So you may need to make that contribution to a ROTH IRA, not a traditional IRA.

For those not following, there is a class of people for whom healthcare is "unaffordable." It they make less than a multiple of the poverty line and the coverage costs more than 8.13% of their AGI they don't owe Obama Tax. The rub is, if their AGI is lower then they qualify for a premium credit and bingo, now they can afford healthcare and owe the tax.

Yep, save for retirement and owe additional tax or spend more money today. Only a wall street greed type could come up with this.
