SATURDAY marks 100 days in office for President Trump. But the symbolic date could be a disaster if Congress doesn’t pass a bill to continue funding the Government by Friday.

Critical negotiations to secure the budget have been ongoing, with President Trump wanting to attach money to build the Mexican border wall to the bill.

But despite the fact a Republican is in the White House, and the party holds a majority in both the House and the Senate, it looked likely that there weren’t enough people willing to pass the budget with money for the wall attached to it.

If the budget isn’t passed, funding for most Federal government agencies is immediately stopped — meaning everything from Defence to National Parks could be severely affected.

This morning, Republicans relented, and have drawn up a budget deal that doesn’t include money for the wall.

However, both sides have a way to go to ensure the funding is secured by Friday; with parties divided over whether they should continue to provide subsidies for Obamacare.

'They are driving us mad': Donald Trump's visit to Taormina in Sicily for G7 summit creating 'security nightmare

Taormina's roads are too narrow and bendy for the US president's car and his motorcade longer than the distances it would have to cover during the summit, Italian newspaper La Repubblica said on Tuesday.

Italian authorities told the newspaper that following the Americans' checks, it appears Mr Trump will not sleep at the Hotel Timeo, where he is currently confirmed to stay as are other leaders including Germany's Angela Merkel and Japan's Shinzo Abe.
Nor will the US president stay at the five-star Hotel San Domenico where the meetings will be held.

According to the newspaper's sources, Mr Trump will likely be sleeping at the American air base of Sigonella, south of Catania, and be transported to meetings by helicopter.
The Americans even asked to widen the street that leads from the newly built heliport to the Hotel San Domenico where the meeting will be held.
The Italians reportedly tried to convince the American security service to move Mr Trump on small electric cars but the option was dismissed.
"Corso Umberto is 900 metres long and the 30 cars they want to use will fill it almost completely, how will they move?" asked Mr Giardina.
