Guy, I don't think anyone would deny that the market should be as free as it can be... for example look at the amazing advances in computer technology that could only have happened in an enterprise economy with companies competing to outdo each other. We all end up benefiting because this competition produced technology that would have been far too expensive to develop from scratch and made it so inexpensive that everyone could afford it. And that same competition brought us the bounty we enjoy where we have a plethora of goods to choose from and food is so plentiful there's an excess.

Business has been called the engine of the economy... I think that it is a good analogy, but it's never taken to completion. A vehicle with only an engine will run it not at all or at top speed in a straight line until the engine burns out or the vehicle crashes. A vehicle also needs a speed control, a steering system and brakes.

We saw an excellent example of this in 2007-2008 when due to deregulation of the financial industry, there was no oversight and fraud on a massive scale occurred. The economy almost collapsed, hundreds of thousands of honest working people lost their life savings due to their investment companies putting their money into fraudulent worthless securities, and these so-called capitalist businesses then went to the federal government asking for bailouts of taxpayer's money. Are memories so short that this has been forgotten?
