It's too much to ask for empathy from either side of the aisle these days...

But hearken back to 2011 and there are roughly a dozen interviews and tweets where Donald Trump himself questioned the legitimacy of Barack Obama's presidency based on the ridiculous "birthergate" nonsense implying that he wasn't born in the United States (once he even implied that Obama was... goshgollygeewhiz... a Muslim! {{cue scary music}}) I don't feel like scouring for links being rather busy right now but I certainly will if required. These are interviews/tweets so they are words from his own mouth or keyboard, not "fake news" from a third party. He also strangely even continued after POTUS Obama released his birth certificate and he (Donald Trump) declared the matter settled and that he was a natural-born citizen after all.

Thus I don't really sympathize for him (or some of his followers) getting bent out of shape about this when he (and they) were more than willing in the past to do precisely the same to the POTUS with a similar lack of validated evidence.

Edit: Not taking sides here... just being "fair and balanced" :^p
