Jason too, likely way back in one of the GPU Wars threads. Unless (and until) nvidia or AMD make a same specced card with (only) different memory types so we can compare... we're all just making educated guesses. Edit: Where is JayGee anyway? Is he OK? Sure hope so. |

I believe the euphemism was "moved on to greener pastures" a couple of years ago. We sure do miss his hand tuning of the cpu apps. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Edit: Where is JayGee anyway? Is he OK? Sure hope so. Last I heard he was busy with personal stuff, and a new job & barely had time to scratch himself. Grant Darwin NT |

+1 Plus he was tuning the GPU apps, not the CPU ones. That was someone else who's name escapes me at the moment, Joe Segur??. He hasn't been heard from in several years |

Well as long as the pastures are greener then, awesome! I just hope he still has time for his tomatoes :) Hope Joe is well too. Joe could answer almost any Seti question you had! With any luck they're both just on a mini Seti sabbatical. |

With your host hidden its hard to say. I assume you are running Linux with Mesa drivers installed. Install AMD GPUPro drivers instead. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Neither of your hosts show any work loaded or completed. So nothing to look at there. Post the first 30 lines of the Event Log after BOINC first startup. That should allow examination of what BOINC thinks of your hosts. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Thanks for the Event Log output. I am not an expert in ATI/AMD or their drivers. I do know there are different drivers other than the Mesa ones. You might try using the open source AMDGPU drivers and hope they will work on I think that older card of yours. The AMDGPU drivers are supposedly for the newer cards. I think Mike is the ATI/AMD expert here and should be the one providing the best answer. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Try again Mike, Should be available now. What GPU are you running Turks sounds rather old to me. HD 6xxx or HD 7xxx ? With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

With your host hidden its hard to say. Not when he is using AMD Turks or Caicos....AMDGPU-PRO is only for the latest and greatest, not for Caicos or Turks (HD6xxx family) BTW: I am running Collatz on a Linux Mint 17.3 system, using the Open Source driver. It is just that the application should not search for OpenCL by vendor, but by the OpenCL that is available, POCL in this case. |

So I think you are saying that the Seti application is at fault for searching for a OpenCL vendor name and not by the OpenCL version level. If that is so, has this been reported to the developers? BTW: I am running Collatz Fact is that you can run a GPU project using the Linux Open Source drivers, whether it makes you feel stupid or not. BTW: it is Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia that can do it (and Einstein@Home too, if that makes you feel smarter) |

I'm not sure why issue arise for old HD6xxx card that was supported for yeas for now. Is it Linux OS that deprecated old drivers use? (That is, download old AMD HD6xxx compatible Linux drivers, install them and crunch). Open-source ones unsupported AFAIK, can be easely checked via source code observation. So I think you are saying that the Seti application is at fault for searching for a OpenCL vendor name and not by the OpenCL version level. If that is so, has this been reported to the developers? Apps features depend mostly on Vendor name (that is, their quality of runtime implementation) not from OpenCL version (that is only theoretical set of possibilities for given runtime). Nevertheless app robustness can be increased by defaulting to some basic set of features in case vendor can't be established but OpenCL GPU is detectable. In any case sources rebuild required so not an option for now - the option is to install AMD drivers that supported HD6xxx card at the time of its appearance on market. AND, btw, all this doesn't explain why BOINC didn't download any work. Perhaps, plan class wants AMD driver too, not only app binary itself... In that case going to anonymous platform could allow tasks to be downloaded at least. Fri 11 May 2018 08:36:10 AM EDT | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Does SETI@Home no longer support a Nvidia Quaddro FX 4800 GPU? If any additional info would help, just ask. Thanks. https://boincstats.com/signature/-1/user/40040505/sig.png |
