Ulibelle, you must be psychic. I was in the audience, 8 rows from the stage at that 2006 Croydon gig at the Fairfield Halls!!! And such memories are what we cherish as we remember them. I have a few myself. The most vivid is the night I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn in his last show on this earth. I went from the highest high to the lowest low in a few hours. Never quite recovered, really. His spirit haunts me till this day. And not in a totally bad way. And I still watch his brother's career. Half the man that Stevie was, but that leaves a lotta room for his success as well. I know that Jimmie Lee Vaughn has spent every second of his life since the crash trying to be what his brother never got the chance to live out. And it is impossible to fill those empty shoes. Once a spark is gone, it cannot be recovered. Only remembered. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

In memory of Rick. There is an F word in it, but I judge it is acceptable in the circumstances. Sometimes a few people have to chill out and realize why we post such things, Chris. We attempt to honor those we respect, and if in doing so, we gall a few oxen, so be it. I have taken out more than my share of big things in my time. Thanks for the honor of sharing your hero with me. SRV was mine, and I had the special gift of seeing him play his last notes on this earth. That was something special that night at Alpine Valley. Maybe the Lord knew Stevie was sharing his last and best with us that day. Maybe that is why he was so good that final show. Musical artists are such special people. They have a gift, and share it with us./ I have a Les Paul sunburst, that could be worth thousands. Perhaps more. Because I got it from the man himself. In a bar in Milwaukee. But, I would not part with it for a million. Because it means much more than that when I can pick it up and know the history it contains. Just a hundred miles south of me, Les created and played one just like it. In Waukesha, Wisconsin. His soul is somewhere inside that solid body electric guitar. And I can share that any time I pick it up and embrace his memory. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Not so long before he passed, he was still tearing it up in New York................. The Les Pulverizer.....LOL. Yes, there is some debate whether or not he was the first to go electric. I still think that he was. But there is not debate that where he took it from there. He was the best at his craft. He went silent for many years, because people just did not give him the credit he deserved. He finally made his comeback, and triumphantly so. And he continued to tear up the strings until he passed at the age of 94. [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjGaJj_-itE&t=12s]The '59 Sunburst..............I have one, beat up and battered indeed, it is NOT a classic example. It is, however a certifiable, original, touched by the man, Les Paul. + I got it years ago, in a pool game bet. Some youngster though he could best me, and tossed it on the table. I asked him where he got it.................. He did not answer at first. I asked him again.............was it stolen? No, not stolen. OK...........I'll put up ten grand against your play if that was actually touched by Les himself. And I ran the table on him/. Fair and square. And I never got his name. As far as I am aware, Les never had a son. But this guy had his guitar. To this day, I wonder. He swore it was not stolen. So where did he come by it? Never gonna know. It is one of those things one just has to accept. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

You play, Richard? Or just pretend like I do? I keep them around to remind me that I cannot... But wish I could. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |
