Thanks for the link. I just watched it. Basically, I think a lot of speculation assumes that if there are other forms of life out there, they are curious like us. They may indeed know we're here, but just don't feel the need to say hello. The way life is on Earth seems to suggest that increasing intelligence means increasing curiosity. That may not really be the case for other forms of life on other worlds. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

May be we are only interested by forms of intelligence that are curious like us? |

We could be interesting to other stellar civilizations because, as a species, we're currently making a unique transition from an an agricultural civilization to a technical one. This appears to be a difficult and perilous time, with no certain outcome. Destructive and constructive forces seem to be balanced. Old ways of doing things are not always applicable to the new challenges. Exploitation of natural resources on a mass scale turns out to have serious negative consequences. War becomes unacceptably destructive. |

This appears to be a difficult and perilous time, with no certain outcome. There's still an assumption being made that another intelligent life form may have the same background as us. Their problems may be very different from ours. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

That may be very true. Even if this is the case, though, it wouldn't necessarily preclude other civilizations finding our current situation interesting. Humans study all manner of living things very closely, noting their behaviors and oddities, even those which have problems very different from our own. |

Maybe, if their ARE other civilizations, they might be more interested in US if we were not so interested in killing our own species. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I am 99% sure that space aliens hook into our Internet to look at cat videos. 100% possible margin of error. |
