or is it a case of a level playing field - AS long as it favours the USA?

I thought we all agreed to this, or do you like speaking German and Japanese?

It looks like the Greek Prime Minister called it right.

"It is either a wake up call or the treading onto a dangerous path"

Will 2017 continue where 2016 left off?

2016 has shown that experts & pollsters talked from the wrong end.

Ask that of those at Standing Rock.

The few should have dominion over the many for their own good..........result: The people of CUBA wallow in poverty depending on the largess of other countries, while the Castros are worth nearly a BILLION dollars........modern Socialism reality....

Whether it is a state or federal issue, it is still a government subsidy & Boeing should repay it just like they forced that Australian company to do....

Sirius B,

IF Boeing should decide, ON ITS OWN, to repay the 'subsidy', who should it repay it to? Only one possible choice... The State of Washington.

Now, I realize that this is not the case in many/most other Nations...

BUT, in the USA, it is the State Governments of the several (currently 50) States the CREATES the 'US Federal Government'. It is the sovereignty of the State Governments that CREATES the sovereignty of the Federal Government, under the US Federal Constitution. NOT the other way around.

To change things to restrict the State Governments ability to assess and collect State taxes as they see fit would require an Amendment to the US Federal Constitution. And since to get said Amendment, 3/4ths of the 50 State Governments would have to agree, the odds on that happening are somewhere between slim and none.

Things might be a little different if the USA had joined the WTO by Treaty... maybe. But it did NOT.

...or is it a case of a level playing field - AS long as it favours the USA?

You are beginning to get the idea.

The USA 'joined' the WTO for our own advantage. The moment it ceases to be in our own interests, bugger the WTO, especially since Boeing is a US Defense (military) contractor.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

Why tax them when you can take their land?

Interesting read. Makes me wonder what is really going on.

Is the land in question 'Public Land' or Tribal land? They moved the Tribal water source 70 miles further away from the project.

J mercer, interesting read but the fact remains they took their land. You can use all the officious arguments you want but many people are fed up, witness the recent presidential election.

Just asking a question.......did the Standing Rock Tribe ever accept monetary compensation for the easement across the land?

Reuters says the pipeline would be built outside, but near, the land owned by the tribe. The tribe is arguing that the pipeline would affect its water, as well as sites of spiritual significance, and says the government took the land away by reneging on past treaties.

All Non-Tribal Countries in the America's (Peru, Cuba, Canada, USA, Mexico, et al) are Illegal?

Most likely

Negative.

Affirmative. Theft is theft. Saying but he did it and got away with it, doesn't work in a court. As a former police officer I'm surprised by your answer.

Unless of course you are into collectivism and don't believe in the ownership of property, like communism. Are you left of Bernie?

Cabinet taking shape

Just a slight hiccup :-)

"However, a legal hurdle must be overcome before he can be appointed.
Under US law, a retired officer must be out of uniform for at least seven years before he or she can serve as defence secretary.
Republican-controlled Congress will have to approve legislation bypassing the requirement so he can take up the role."

Gary...

To answer your question regarding if I am "left of Bernie". You must be more specific regarding exactly which positions I either agree or disagree with.

I thought you subscribed to the circle theory of the political spectrum. As such, you are to the left of Bernie by your own definition.

Understand?
