Is this guy for real? ""The day will come when the British will re-enter the boat, I hope," he said following an EU summit. Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage said: "The ship will have sunk by then."" Love it :-) |

I thought you labelled yourself as an Anti-Capitalist? The EU is nothing but capitalist. |

Jean-Claude Juncker is real. The Oppressive EU Establishment? The problem is that Germany, Luxemburg and Brussels have too many votes when selecting leaders of the European "Union". It's like the US Electoral Collage on steroids. |

Clyde for someone with your wealth of knowledge & experience, the fact that you do not participate on any other board on this forum, or create your own threads to initiate debate, instead infect others says much. Can understand it though. All those years having a "semblance" of control & power can go to one's head. The problem as seen by many in your position, is that retirement is the pits. You can do nothing about the way matters are heading & that hurts doesn't it. |

Brexit seems to have a new meaning now. Sinn Fein wants vote on Northern Ireland leaving UK 'as soon as possible' http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-eu-nireland-idUKKBN16K28E |

Brexit seems to have a new meaning now. It actually makes sense. At the moment there is virtually no border between the north and south, including agreements on things like abortion issues, where Northern Ireland also bans abortions and is out of step with the rest of UK. If and when Brexit occurs the border controls will presumably have to be put back in place. I don't think they will allow an open border between the EU and the UK after Brexit. But closing it will cause havoc for lots of businesses and people. Therefore it makes sense politically and for the local economy, for there to be a United Ireland. And let Dublin sort out the problems of dealing with the protestant minority. |

Dutch are generally wiser than Brexiter Britons and Trumpian Deplorables: Dutch election: PM Rutte celebrates 'rejection of populism'. Best news out of Europe this year. |

The number of Brits applying for Swedish citizenship increased threefold last year! In mid-December the Migration Agency said that around half of those who had applied after the Brexit vote on June 23rd had been accepted, while the other half were still waiting to hear back. https://www.thelocal.se/20170322/heres-where-swedens-new-citizens-came-from-in-2016 I hope they are not rapists. Nigel Farage is under investigation by the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom over a claim made on his radio show that Sweden is "the rape capital of Europe". http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/nigel-farage-ofcom-investigation-sweden-rape-capital-europe-a7639401.html |

Article 50 is finally signed. As for the "divorce" settlement being asked for, I suggest we agree pay it :-) Then hit them with a demand for 50% of their assets for which we take 50% of income provide by those assets annually. That's how divorces work right :-) |

The "divorce" settlement? Now wait two years - at least - of uncertainty and tough negotiations between London and Brussels. |

One question that is not resolved is what will happen to the 3 million Europeans that live and work in Britain and the 1 million Brits that live and work in other EU countries. |

One question that is not resolved is what will happen to the 3 million Europeans that live and work in Britain and the 1 million Brits that live and work in other EU countries. WHY? It wasn't an issue while it was the EEC, so why one now? |

One question that is not resolved is what will happen to the 3 million Europeans that live and work in Britain and the 1 million Brits that live and work in other EU countries. Really? How was the free movement in the EEC? EU citizens are entitled to:
work there without needing a work permit reside there for that purpose stay there even after employment has finished enjoy equal treatment with nationals in access to employment, working conditions and all other social and tax advantages |

Prior to the start of World War I in 1914, there were virtually no border controls or restrictions to labor mobility across the continent. During the war, however, the crossing of borders by foreigners began to be considered a security concern, and it was at this time that passports and visas were introduced in Europe. |
