Eric has responded, and he is looking at things.
I can get some sleep now.

My Computer just reported and downloaded new tasks.

Message 1838921 - Posted: 30 Dec 2016, 19:13:41 UTC - in response to Message 1838743.

Is anybody getting any work? I have not received any downloads since about 1:30pm Eastern Standard Time. Nothing is stuck or suspended, but I am just about of work units. Do we need to make any changes at our end because of the changes in the encryption? Just wondering if something wrong at my end.
Thanks.

I seen a problem where I had to tick off SETI@home v8 "YES" to get work on my Ubuntu box, even though it had Accept Other Work and was working fine before.

Thanks for the idea.

I changed:
Run only the selected applications AstroPulse v7: yes
SETI@home v8: no
If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? yes

- to:
Run only the selected applications AstroPulse v7: yes
SETI@home v8: yes
If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? yes

- and my PCs get again WUs.

Wow - saw my credit on my Host Average suddenly had a steep downturn this afternoon. Looking at my current processing units showed that I was only processing CPU / iGPU tasks and that my GTX 1060 was completely idle. I'd had the same settings as Dirk had in an attempt to get a few AP units once in awhile. (still very rare anymore) But having the "allow other projects if no work available" always seemed to work.

Looking closer at my number of work units (which is generally about 90 CPU / 100 iGPU / 100 GPU) it was clear that I hadn't gotten any new work in quite some time. While the number of CPU/iGPU tasks would keep my processor busy for quite some time -- perhaps several days -- the GPU ate up the cache of its work units quite quickly.

Thanks for pointing this out Dirk - certainly wouldn't have been where I expected to look for trouble.

I am getting no work here at all.

I had the same problem this morning , i usualy have my prefs set for accept AP and if none avalable acept other work ( MB v8 )

I had to manualy tick the box for v8 and update all my machines ( both AP & V8 ticked ) , after the 5 min 3 sec timed out the next request had work coming through and all machines are full now .
Might be worth giving that a try Mark , my "old" settings were working ok untill the outrage yesterday happend .

I'm glad it wasn't just me. When I got up this morn one of my boxes was down to it's last 3 tasks. I figured it out but asked wtf?

I wonder if it's related to the glitch where Seti & Seti Beta preferences for "Store at least x days of work" tend to overwrite each other?

No, because I was not getting tasks and I do not run Beta.

Interesting. As I noted, I had not experienced any issues, however I've been set as
SETI@home v8: yes
in my non-AP profile for a very long time.
Perhaps explains why I wasn't affected?

I was thinking about this last night.
My settings were yes, no, yes.
The logic behind that was that with ap set to yes and v8 set to no, the scheduler would always check for any available ap work first and if it did not find any, then the accept other switch took over and v8 would be sent.
I believe that what actually happened here was the new code inactivated the accept other switch, and if that is repaired, everybody would start getting work again with their original settings.
At least that is my working theory at this time.

Looks as if the Validators are having a bit of trouble digesting the post-Christmas feast they have been delivered - my "awaiting validation" queue is getting quite substantial, now about double the number of my tasks in progress. Perhaps the attention of the tyre-kicker-in-chief is required, or maybe a dose of Ex-lax to get things moving?

Hmmmm....I am not seeing anything unusual with my pendings..........with 8 rigs running.

I noticed my pendings shot up a few weeks ago, but several of my machines received a lot of shorties that the wingmates haven't returned yet around that time.

Normally I'm running at "running" to "pending" at about 1, more or less the same as you, but in the last few days the ration has moved progressively to 1:2 (approx 1300 running and 2500 pending)

If you checkout the Hosts in the Top 30 you'll find they have similar In Progress to Pending numbers. The difference becomes greater the Faster your Host is compared to the Average Wing-Person.

If the User running all those Tesla K80s ever finds the Linux Special App it's all over. Or rather, he'll be all over the front page.

For what it's worth, the little problem with the v8 preference switch has not been addressed yet. Just turned it off for about 15 minutes, and sure enough, the rigs on that preference stopped getting new work.
Turned it back on, and they started to fill right back up on the next round of work requests.
