That's what happens when Eric waves his magic wand;
...I've rereleased them at 8.23 and cancelled the results for the bad app_versions (8.22 opencl_ati5_SoG_nocal and opencl_ati5_SoG_cat132).

Let me know if they don't automatically get aborted by your machine the next time you connect.

I'm surprised they weren't given full credit to boot...I've seen that before.
Perhaps he's changed wands...

No, his is and always the master.
Sometimes he is otherwise occupied, as his plate is rather full.
Just say thank you he had time to attend to this today.
Otherwise, just say thank you than he attends to this project as he is able to.
Say Amen, brothers.
Just say Amen.

Unnoticed by anyone, but is probably what the earlier outage was for and what the present outage at the BOINC domain is for, but the encryption changed. From SHA-1 we went to Connection Encrypted (TLS_ECGHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384, 256 bit keys, TLS 1.2). That should make sure all pages load in all browsers from January 1st.

Yes, see that now in Chrome 55. Cutting kinda close I guess since SHA-1 goes away for everybody except Microsoft on January 1 2017.

Given that most of my access is Chrome (55+) through Android devices... Would be a shame if access gets cut off... Even with the (currently) funky page layouts.

Is anybody getting any work? I have not received any downloads since about 1:30pm Eastern Standard Time. Nothing is stuck or suspended, but I am just about of work units. Do we need to make any changes at our end because of the changes in the encryption? Just wondering if something wrong at my end.
Thanks.

I seen a problem where I had to tick off SETI@home v8 "YES" to get work on my Ubuntu box, even though it had Accept Other Work and was working fine before.

Thanks Brent. Saying yes to SETI@Home v8 fixed the problem and started the work flowing. I wonder if they might have broken the Accept Other Work switch during the outage?
Anyway it works now.

Thanks

Win10/Firefox/Boinc 7.6.22 here.
No issues, all caches are full, review of BOINC logs indicate no issues getting work, have made no changes to any settings.
Have been getting work pretty much all morning/afternoon/evening ...

And the BOINC domain went down again. Possibly problems with the certification, plus all HTTP access was all of a sudden unavailable. That's a lot of cursing people whose bookmarks have to be adjusted overnight.

Edit: and the HTTP connections are available again. No need (yet) to quickly change your bookmarks.

. . There was a period earlier today when my WIn7 box was not getting any work for a few hours but the Win10 boxes were getting work just fine. No reason given like limit reached or cache full or whatever, just "no work sent". But it is AOK now.

I had the same problem this morning , i usualy have my prefs set for accept AP and if none avalable acept other work ( MB v8 )

I had to manualy tick the box for v8 and update all my machines ( both AP & V8 ticked ) , after the 5 min 3 sec timed out the next request had work coming through and all machines are full now .
Might be worth giving that a try Mark , my "old" settings were working ok untill the outrage yesterday happend .

I and the kitties are truly grateful for your tip.
I edited my prefs, and work is now coming in again.
It was starting to get a bit chilly in here, as the crunchers are generally heating the place.

Thank you so very much.

Geez........
I wonder how many 'set and forget' rigs are going to be going down in the next day or so...............
Not pretty.

The SSP 'results received in the last hour' is already dropping.
Last update was 88,966.

Wondering if the admins can or would consider manually editing the entire user database to set v8 to 'yes'. And that is a quandary..............to change a user's preferences without notification?
How does one determine whether that is an acceptable move on the project's part?

I cannot answer that one......................

Probably that's illegal and would cause one of the biggest sh#testorms to erupt , at the very least could see loads of "bad" publicity for the project and the Uni , the lawyers would probably "love " something like that to happen coz the bottom feeders would rake it in ;-)

Yea I don't know what happened there, they must have had their fingers in the scheduler or database to affect that. I was wondering if it was the encryption change that was affecting me at first then figured it out.

Dunno about any legal issues, since it's a volunteer project I figure the admins can pretty much do as they wish with it.
If a project change created the problem, I suspect that have they have the right to correct it if they so desire.
In this case, if people joined up and a technical error causes them to not get any work, I see no problem with the admins correcting the issue by editing all accounts to remove the mistake.
I do agree that some might try to create an issue from that action.
But it's not much different than changing all work from v7 to v8, really.
