Greetings and Salutations! I'm quite new to the community, to distributed computing, and in general utilizing more than 4 gpus at once. I have only marginally contributed due to me still trying to get all 4 of my 295X2s up and running.

I only know of one person who has gotten 5 gpus (R9 Nano Furies) running smoothly, Rick's Performance Computing over on YouTube. He also tried 3 Pro Duos on a Crosshairs V Formula-Z, but could only get 2 Duos working. Anyone else have success in running 5-8 gpus? If so, on which motherboard, driver version used, and would you be willing to share your installation process?

My problem is when I manually install drivers its all smooth sailing until I reach the 5th. Installing diver for the 5th leads to BSoD...

My system (No OCing... yet):
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 (Bios Version: FC)
AMD FX-9590
AMD FX Series AIO Liquid Cooler
AMD Radeon R9 Gamer Series DDR3 2400MHz x4 (8GB sticks)
AMD Radeon R9 295X2 x4 (Not installing the 4th until my new PSU comes)
AMD Radon R9 480GB SSD x8 (6 in RAID 0)
Corsair AX1500i (soon to be replaced by Super Flower Leadex 80 Plus Platinum 8Pack Edition 2000W PSU)
Windows 10 Home/Pro (I own both just in case)

I think you will have to have a look at the spacing of the PCI slots on that motherboard. I ran one for a time and, from memory, not all the slots were accessible when installing double width cards. One way round this is to use a header to extend a couple of the slots, thus allowing you to install more than three double-width cards.
As to getting them running, don't try to use CrossFire (or whatever AMD call their card linking technology). This will, at best, be of no benefit, and at worst will inhibit at least one of the cards.
I see you've got two running of your three cards running just now, have you tried adding the third?

I will link some images to show you the layout and spacing. I can't post images for some reason (guess I'm to new).

But yes that is my problem. I can install up to 2 295X2s (gpu cores 1, 2, 3, & 4) no problem. But updating the drivers of the 3rd 295X2 (gpu 5 & 6) lead to BSoD. What I did was run safe mode and install the drivers of gpu 5 & 6 (3rd 295X2). Now all 6 are running albeit in safe mode only, lol. If I can run BOINC in safe mode then that's great!

I install the drivers (Catalyst/Crimson 15.2) manually. I didn't install the control center so no access/control of Crossfire. I use 15.2 because that's what most people who run 5+ gpus use.

To post images you have to store them externally, on pages like Imgur, Photobucket or Imageshack and then use the [img][/img] tags to link to that image.

Just tested it. When click Img, then paste the image link, then click Img* to close it, then hit the preview button a small placeholder with a white 'x' against a black background is in the images place instead.

Don't mind the cable management. Not doing anything about it until I get my 2000W PSU and have all 4 295X2s running BOINC jobs.

You're missing the file extension. Also, the resolution is so huge, this is going to stretch the forum pages. You can click on the quote button on my post to see what I changed.

Ah... thank you. But seeing as how my images are so big better off just linking it to avoid it taking forever to scroll down, lol.

Ah sorry, Imgur was a bad example I see, as they obfuscate the URL (??) so that the image is no longer an image link. The image tags here do require the image extension .jpg, .png, .bmp (although rather not), .gif etc.

Some of the image sites resize the image before it's sent out. Photobucket does that. But otherwise use rule of thumb not to size larger than 1024x768 pixels, as not everyone has a 4K 50 inch mega screen in their possession to watch the forums on, or has a no-data-limit connection. And some of us do even read here on our (smart)phones on a 5 inch screen and I can tell you we don't want to see images that large then. :)
