I'm getting the above erron on only 1 of 4 computers. Today it showed 179 errors. The log shows: <core_client_version>7.6.22</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> WU download error: couldn't get input files: <file_xfer_error> <file_name>03ja09aa.1227.6207.12.39.111</file_name> <error_code>-119 (md5 checksum failed for file)</error_code> <error_message>MD5 check failed</error_message> </file_xfer_error> </message> ]]> What could cause this? The affected computer is hard-wired into the router, which is attached to a 6mb DSL modem. Bob B. |

Have you tried rebooting the modem & the computer? Does that computer have a different AntiVirus programme compared to the others? Grant Darwin NT |

Do you have any AV software running on the computer? I had to whitelist the SETI and Einstein download servers on my AV software to stop the download errors. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

If it randomly started and a reboot doesn't clear things up. Then I would start troubleshooting by changing the network port it is connected to on your switch or router. Alternatively you may be able to access the interface for the network device and see if you are getting errors on the port it uses. Which could also mean a NIC that is starting to act up if you see errors on your switch or router and it follows the system. If nothing seems to be wonky for the network then I would look at memory and disk issues next. With SMART disk issues are normally pretty easy to track down. Memory issues can be a pain. I've had systems that passed all memory scan tests but had issues when specific DIMMs were used. I'll try swapping router ports. All 4 computers are running the same AVG Free antivirus. I did find that AVG had it configured as a laptop instead of desktop. I corrected that. The hard drive does have some reallocated sectors but no pending errors. Here is one of the download errors copied from the BOINC log. 10/30/2016 10:16:19 PM | SETI@home | Started download of 11au09ac.16399.18477.14.41.160 10/30/2016 10:16:19 PM | SETI@home | [error] MD5 check failed for 11se09ac.25468.6202.3.30.251 10/30/2016 10:16:19 PM | SETI@home | [error] expected 688d7062edf12135424308684a05977d, got 9c58f753853c5008b5adc7555b4a3af3 10/30/2016 10:16:19 PM | SETI@home | [error] Checksum or signature error for 11se09ac.25468.6202.3.30.251 10/30/2016 10:16:23 PM | SETI@home | Finished download of 11se09ac.25468.6202.3.30.225 Bob B. |

Disable ACTIVE SCAN in AVG or try to ALLOW/WHITE-LIST the BOINCDATA folder/directory and it's sub-folder, Shutdown/Restart BOINC & PC and try again. |

You're right. I turned AVG off and the errors stopped. The latest AVG is called AVG/ZEN and doesn't appear to have the ADVANCED OPTION selection with EXCEPTIONS under it. For the time being I uninstalled AVG and turned on Windows Defender. I'm running Windows 10 64-bit on the failing computer. My Lenovo laptop is running Windows 10 32-bit with no errors but apparently has an older version of AVG FREE and not ZEN. 2 other computers with no errors are running AVG-ZEN but have Windows 7 64-bit running. Possibly it's the combination of Windows 10 and AVG-ZEN causing a problem? Bob B. |
