Message 1832266 - Posted: 24 Nov 2016, 21:45:12 UTC - in response to Message 1832076.

It looks like BOINC is seeing your 750 Ti card for both CUDA and OpenCL. Where is the "missing GPU" message in the log. Guess it is later than the first 20 lines. It might be that Windows10 had updated the video driver on its own to the no OpenCL version that Microsoft pushes out automatically. I don't know whether that would be picked up as the same Nvidia latest driver version. First thing to try is download the driver directly from Nvidia and re-install it. That will get back the OpenCL capability for sure. The other thing is the latest driver has embedded telemetry hidden in the driver and lots of BOINC users in other projects are commenting that is breaking BOINC. If you can back level the driver to an earlier version before the telemetry was added. I don't know whether you update drivers for specific gaming requirements or not. If you don't need the latest driver for games and just want to run BOINC, settle on a stable driver version like 372.54 or something similar.

Somehow it must have fixed itself through the night, because the v8.819 wu's were running this morning. I didn't do anything to it. If it does it again I will try rolling back the driver.

Thanks.

Do you run GeForce Experience perhaps? That program attempts to keep the drivers current.

After updating the Geforce driver to 375.95 on my new GTX 1050, BOINC 7.6.22 does not recognize any NVIDIA GPU, while GP/Z sees it perfectly. So I am not getting any GPU task on my Windows 10 PC.

I think I shall use the DVD sent to me by the manufacture. But updates are always a risk. So far Geforce updates had worked on the GTX 750 OC, which worked well. Now I am left with the HD 7770 on the Linux box.

No avail. I registered with nVidia and sent them a message. They say they will look into it.

I went back to 375.70, restarted Windows and now the GPU is visible. Einstein@home started using it, then I will try SETI and SETI Beta.

@Tullio
I had have the same Problem Boinc did not received the driver. I deinstalled Geforce Experience and installed the driver new without Geforce Experience. that worked on my Titans.
Driver 368.81 runs on it.

I have a new version of Geforce Experience but I am not going to use it. The 1050 Ti performance in Einstein on Arecibo data searching for double radio pulsars is impressive, about 40 minutes instead of 1 h 26 min on the 750 OC and more than 2 hours on the HD 7770 of the Linux box.

Are those intended for installer use too?

I'll test the ones I can later today, and if OK try for a Beta7 over the weekend.

Are these going to be released on Beta? Just curious if I can just go to Beta and run it instead of having to download and install.

how much tasks are you running on 1050Ti? Just purchased one & running 4 on this machine:
https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7785610
So just wanted to have input on how much instances I should be running?

& Reistmer, can you answer me why OpenCL jobs (SoG 8.19) uses so much more CPU power than the CUDA ones?! example, SoG 8.19 uses 25% of CPU, while 8.01 CUDA42 uses about 5%...
:/

Can support the view that the newer variants of Geforce Experience, and any supporting telemetry, are poisonous to what we want to achieve here.

I am running only one instance. I noticed it is not the GPU board making noise with its fan but the main fan of my HP desktop. The GPU board temperature is around 55 C and its fan is at 34%. For some reason the 1050 board is using more power that the GTX 750 OC it had before.
I had to downgrade the NVidia driver from 375.95 to 375.70 otherwise BOINC would not recognize it.

particularly odd, maybe maybe not, I run 375.95. Mind you I do use a very old modified version of Boinc. perhaps something went off the rails since now and 5 years or so before the 1050 came out, lmao. Have noticed reading isn't Boinc developers' strong point [Edit: or listening].

On the Windows 10 PC I am using BOINC 7.6.22. On the 2 Linux boxes 7.2.42.

The difference is more likely to be whether the 375.95 driver came from Microsoft or NVidia. That reminds me - I was going to test my 1050Ti in the Windows 10 boot partition sometime, now that it's proved itself under Windows 7.

I got the 375.95 from Geforce Experience, as I have always done. But then I went to the nVidia repository and installed 375.70 and it works.
