I heard that back around 1960 (+/- a couple of years), the April issue of one of the amateur radio magazines suggested to hams with complaining neighbors that the could hide their antennae by painting them with ultraviolet paint.

Still remember a April ham magazine that promoted growing a cylindrical ruby crystal to put into the antenna to get laser amplification of the signal, back with ruby lasers had just been invented.

Darwin Was a Slacker and You Should Be Too
Many famous scientists have something in common—they didn’t work long hours

When you examine the lives of history’s most creative figures, you are immediately confronted with a paradox: They organize their lives around their work, but not their days.

Figures as different as Charles Dickens, Henri Poincaré, and Ingmar Bergman, working in disparate fields in different times, all shared a passion for their work, a terrific ambition to succeed, and an almost superhuman capacity to focus. Yet when you look closely at their daily lives, they only spent a few hours a day doing what we would recognize as their most important work. The rest of the time, they were hiking mountains, taking naps, going on walks with friends, or just sitting and thinking. Their creativity and productivity, in other words, were not the result of endless hours of toil. Their towering creative achievements result from modest “working” hours.

How did they manage to be so accomplished? Can a generation raised to believe that 80-hour workweeks are necessary for success learn something from the lives of the people who laid the foundations of chaos theory and topology or wrote Great Expectations?

I think we can. If some of history’s greatest figures didn’t put in immensely long hours, maybe the key to unlocking the secret of their creativity lies in understanding not just how they labored but how they rested, and how the two relate.

What's being built in Yermo CA?

A new Gas Station w/32 pumps(to right out of frame), a Convenience Store, and possibly a Starbucks, here's the pic.

That's going to be the Taj Mahal of gas stations!

And severe competition to a local high priced store called Upton's, Upton's also houses the Yermo Post Office, there used to be a restaurant there on Calico Rd and a Texaco gas station across the street, both were torn down, so I don't know if this will be really successful, since the lions share of business in Yermo is down at Ghost Town Rd where the Marine Base has fairly easy access, among others that is.

Well Alex Ringle is dumping a lot of money into the Yermo Travel Center

Nice find there.

I noticed His name when they started grading and such, but that was it, and yeah He is dumping a lot of money, how much I don't know, nor if He's the owner or not.
The assessors office shows he owns several parcels in the area. So he is the landlord of the project. Don't know who has leased it however.

An halal fast food approved chain?

I believe that there are several of them (well just over 100) over there doing extremely good business now. ;-)

Cheers.

Dang... I've used up my 500GB internet download limit and my service has been throtteled back to 256kbps download speed . It normally runs about 13GB download speed. Luckily it is only two days before my new monthly cycle begins. Still it's annoying trying to stream netflix content.

I never pay any attention to my usage, but my last bill kind of cryptically says "unlimited", but then says the plan is 1,024:
Data Usage Summary
Total Unlimited Data Internet Usage Allowance
Plan GB 1,024
TV and Internet Unlimited Unlimited
Usage Plan
GB Used 165

Darwin Award contender now wants new laws on gas containers because he is still alive to talk about it. Too bad he is only a contender for the award.......

http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/if-passed-new-legislation-could-make-gas-cans-safer/429325958
PLANO (Texas USA)- It was a cold, wet December day when Joel Hall couldn’t get the fire going during a family camping trip. What he did next is what experts say you should never do. He used gasoline to start the fire.

“Thankful every day that it wasn’t worse,” he said. “Could have easily been worse.”

And by worse, Joel is talking about the third-degree burns criss-crossing his lower legs and thighs. Burns he sustained after his gas can near the camp fire burst into flames.

“Unfortunately an ember, or a leaf, or something from the fire, blew over and caught the gas on fire and sent it back to the gas can and it exploded in my hand. And the gas went on my legs, and it was instant,” he said. “It burned my pants off.”
