Message 1858785 - Posted: 1 Apr 2017, 1:03:18 UTC - in response to Message 1858752.

I would like to go off-topic here for a second and remind people that, if they
don't like what's happening in a thread or they don't like the people who
are posting, they're welcome to leave the thread and never come back.

That being said, I will not respond to challenges to me as a result of this
post. So still your fingers.

Suzie, it's your thread and you can do whatever you want, within limits. Go for it.

Up to this last year I missed some great shots, I seem to never have my camera with me.
No more I carry my Pentax or my Nikon and my Iphone.

My Nephew is a big camera buff in New Mexico and he comes up with some great stuff also.
He lives in Roswell but no pic's of UFO's yet. LOL

It's a Jackdaw...I don't know if it's known by another name in other parts of the world....

They only live in Europe, western Asia and North Africa and thrive near people, they are very common in cities, and familiar guests at the outdoor cafes.

We got about 12 inches of heavy wet snow. Shoveling is not going to be fun.

It's apparently a "small member of the crow family."

Message 1859380 - Posted: 3 Apr 2017, 19:25:59 UTC

These were the original rules posted when I started this group.

Rules:

Post only original photos taken by you.

Not too big. In inches I wouldn't go much bigger than 8" x 10", but that's just
a general guideline, not a hard and fast rule. In pixels that would be 576 x 720.

Let's keep them rated PG, please. :-)

I'm now adding a line or two:

Occasionally it will be permitted if you post a photo taken by someone you know who
has given you permission to share the photo. If you do, you should say so when you
post the photo. Please don't make this a habit.

Of course I can't stop someone from breaking the rules but, if it happens often, I can lock
this thread. I don't want the thread to become a home for memes. There are a zillion other
places to post those.

Thank you for your understanding.
~Sue~

a cracking x83 optical zoom

That's truly amazing.

I have a digital SLR, but just a wide angle, to medium telephoto lens.

I also have a 35 mm SLR and an 80 - 200 mm lens for it, but nothing comparable to what you're talking about.

What would an 83x zoom lens like what you have be in terms of what I think of as a telephoto lens focal length?
