A couple of not so sharp and clear pictures as I am used to but interesting (to me anyway)' Yesterday it was very misty, but saw this coming down the Solent The ocean going tug Sirius, bound for Lisbon apparently. First tug I have seen since being here. Then today I was much too far away when I saw this. The Border Force vessel Valiant. The reason I didn't know it was coming was the AIS seems to have been switched off. The last recorded position was a month ago in the Clyde!! I wonder if they switch the AIS off occasionally so the bad guys don't actually know where it is. |

Early winter this year What are those things that look like parking meters with wires attached? The mind is a weird and mysterious place

Early winter this year I suspect they are AC outlets for plugging in engine heaters or battery chargers. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once."

I suspect they are AC outlets for plugging in engine heaters or battery chargers. That's kind of what I thought, too. Neat idea. The mind is a weird and mysterious place

I'm pretty sure that the new forum design includes something that "resizes" photos. Now, if you post a 20MB photo, it's still going to be 20MB and it's still going to take forever to load, but now it will fit into the window that you have open for forum posts. In other words (because I'm not sure I described it very well), your photo can be 4000 pixels wide, but the new forum software will show the whole thing in your window, even if your window is only 1000 pixels wide. This is a good thing because we'll all be able to see the whole photo right away without scrolling or resizing, but it's a bad thing because we need for everyone to consider file size before posting a photo. We really don't want to have to sit and wait forever (because that's how it seems these days with a lightning fast Internet) for a photo to load. So yay, mostly. :-) ~Sue~
